@@paytonking4673 I was 19 when I posted this. I’ve discovered a lot more since then 😂. They were definitely the doomiest of the first wave of Florida bands though. Cheers for bringing me back to this video! 🍻
RIP Frank! And Thank you to both you and Allen West and Obituary as you made a HUGE contribution to my life while i lived in Tampa Florida! The True Death Metal Capital of the World! No Doubt!!! Death Metal Rules!!! I am so waiting fro them to tour again as my wife loved them as well!
god i grew up with these guys....first death band i ever heard....was blown away. sampled the scene for yrs after and never thought any band compared to Obituary. truly the best death metal band. most unique (if thats possible)....they didnt go for super fast riffs alot...went for the slow plodding pace....it worked for them. and what can ya say about John Tardy!!...the best of em all!!
we just *finally* purchased the video of this amazing band last year and I have not stopped watching it yet. Simply and brutally amazing. Happy birthday John Tardy (3-15-2012)!!
this is my favorite song, i just love the lyrics. i went and seen them a few weeks ago. they played this song and it was great live. Drums like a machine gun!!!
I can die a happy woman. At last I saw Obituary in Nashville, TN on Nov. 7th at the Exit/In. EXCELLENT show they put on. Met John Tardy. Nice, sexy man! They should've been the headliners!!!!!!!!!!
i could give you a list of really great similar bands if you wanted dude, old school DM and thrash are pretty much what im all about dude. RU-vid is also actually a great place to find out about bands too, thats how i found out or rekindled my love for a lot of obscure older bands
Obituary prove the fact that Death Metal is not JUST about playing fast, and that it is a genre which can offer more in terms of atmosphere and heavyness than it is sometimes thought. I think many bands get this wrong, especially nowadays, and they sometimes confuse DM with Speed Metal, which I'd say to be not a genre but a mood amongst others and which can be obtained in different genres such as DM, Black, Thrash, Heavy, etc. Any opinions?
Seeing them this Friday night. Seriously stoked. Only bad thing is they are not headlining?? Hatebreed is the headliner, which I find very weird. Oh, well, no big deal, me and the other old farts in the crowd get to go home early!!
Ahhh, nothing like some good ol' fashioned head-banging metal! Not crazy about the vocals though. I didn't know these guys were still together - good for them!
when i think of brothers in metal bands theres 3 pairs that come to mind. the adlers in Lamb Of God, The Hoffman bros of Deicide and of course THE TARDY BROS IN OBITUARY!
@arabianmetalhead99 Sorry to break your dream. I don't know about John..But I remember perfectly Trevor asking me after a gig if I knew where he could get some "coco" and believe me he was not speeking about massage oil, or icecream. btw Obituary are amazing even if if think they sounded better 15 years ago "Dead" really is a masterpiece of a live album.
