Obliteration · Progressive Trance
When a wasp attacks the hive, Asian honeybees form a "heat ball" around the intruder, completely covering it. They vibrate their flight muscles, increasing the temperature at the center of the cluster to about 116°F/ 47°C. This heat is enough to kill the wasp, which cannot tolerate such high temperatures. The Asian honeybees, however, can survive at slightly lower temperatures, creating a thermal defense against the predator.
