Ive been waiting/lookong for a video explaining giten and you did a great job. What a interesting game with all its quirks. Thanks for covering this and cant wait to check out some more of your other videos. 😊 take care
Admittedly it was a little hard to understand at times, but I actually don't think it was your pronunciation because whenever I would play the same part again to listen, I could understand it perfectly. I actually think it was the tempo of speech throwing me off. I would hear a word and there would be a slight pause or an unusual voice inflection and it would make me think the word was suddenly finished and throw me off. Really interesting lesson for me about the complexities of language and translation that I don't see discussed often. This is not a critique, by the way. The video was excellent and you spoke English very well. To go a full two hours with an accurate indepth retelling and explanation in a language very different from your native language is very impressive. Also, we in the West really appreciate you giving us the chance to hear this story. In fact, your video was the only one I could find that went into detail about Giten Megami Tensei. Thank you again!
Hey, thanks for the comment. I am glad the video was somewhat worth for your time and i also want to apologize for causing inconveniences with my words. I will try my best to improve on it in future videos and again, thank you i really appreciate the comment. Hope you have a great day.
@@9nine338 No apologies necessary, man. You did an excellent job. I'm not even sure there's a way to improve, I think it's just an accent. I only made note of it because of how well you do actually speak English. You even nailed a lot of our figure of speeches and slang. But, I digress. Awesome video, man. Liked, subscribed, etc.
i discovered your channel and your videos are very addicting! i was hoping for someone to make a video about giten and i found this masterpiece of a review!
46:48 im thinking that is computer stat since you said you could get one of those types and it looks a bit like a computer chip so prob your strength in that category.
The parents thing isnt really a tradition per se, I mean, most of the time parents aren't even mentioned at all in megaten. Cool video, thanks for letting us experience the game through you, i don't know japanese and always felt curious about this entry in the series thanks to its more +18 themes
Thank you! I’m glad I could contribute to the community in some way. So about the parent thing, I still haven’t play any other games that I haven’t made the video on yet and most games I have played so far had parent figures present in some shape or form, so I just came to my own conclusion that it might be some kind of on-going tradition or something in megaten series Xd.
@@9nine338 eh I could be wrong though, for literal parents there's for example Kazuya's mom in SMT 1, there's a dad I think in last bible 3, Hiroko in SMT 2, the mom from SMT NINE but honestly I can't think of more parent figures lol, my memory's kinda bad so again, I could be wrong. I usually see protagonists with no mention about parents such as the demi fiend, Flynn, the new guy from SMT 5, the guys from devil summoner and soul hackers, Tamaki from SMT if, Strange journey's protagonist and more. Doesn't mean their parents are dead but as far as I know parents tend to be absent from the narrative in these games haha, I'd say fighting your friends or companions is the real tradition in this franchise, since there's usually a disagreement between parties when alignments start to change them.
@@shadowmaster452 Now that you’ve mentioned it, fighting friends seems more like a tradition then having deceased parents. Haha I guess I still need to play more games after all.
@@shadowmaster452 Deceased parents are more of a Fire Emblem trope than an SMT one, though with how often there's an apocalypse, we can assume most games have the protag become an orphan at some point. Flynn's parent's are mentioned to have passed away during the issachar section of the game. It's optional dialog, so it wouldn't seem to be all that important to Flynn as it's never mentioned again anywhere significant.
Finished this game recently. Great game, I have some issues especially with early dungeons compared to later dungeons, early bosses (Dantalion, Bael) compared to later bosses (except Asherat, which even with the fertility sword it was very slow), some skills feel useless (Effects and melee skills feel useless). Still, had a good story, the ATB system was fun and the bugs were funny sometimes. I believe Bael is fake, and not the real king of demons. All of this would be a plan to destroy the resistance easily (infecting the leader) and just annihilate any hope of rebellion.
I had difficult time with "baal hadad" boss. I too think the fertility sword is the best sword in the game, although I regret not realizing its usefulness until end game. I had to say I enjoyed story and definitely characters of this game the most. And the game was surprisingly immersive too. It was an unique experience.
I sadly couldn't get more than 30 seconds into this video knowing that that voice/accent is going to be talking throughout the entirety of it. I'm generally pretty good about understanding through accents, like Scottish accents, even Glasgow accents specifically which are notoriously hard to comprehend and interpret. I can follow them. But this, while I can follow, it's with constant effort and not going to make for an enjoyable viewing experience whatsoever, so while I don't intend any offense, this isn't for me. I leave this comment not to be an asshole, as I'm aware intent is easily misconstrued and misread via only text, but because it may be helpful criticism to know how to grow your channel faster and have better success if you're interested in that. Just a suggestion from some random stranger on the internet though, not barking demands or anything of the like. I wish you the best of luck.
I really apologize for your inconvenience viewing the video. I struggle with pronouncing words clearly and I have a lot to work on my accent as well. I will try my best in future video. Thank you for the criticism. I appreciate it a lot.
