really nice of Pat Finnerty to upload at the end of the month as an homage to the famous band August is Falling. cant wait to see them perform in Agloe, NY on Feb 30
He's like that guy at the record store. Sees you browsing and knows every reason under the sun why you SHOULDNT buy that album. He's not going to buy anything himself either, but what you're looking to buy is wrong!
@@VideoCommentsAndMore I was born in the Thumb, and moved back as an adult over 20 years ago, and this is true. People would assume my parents were Canadian based on inflections. I don't hear the "a boot/a boat" diphthong when people around here say about, but otherwise it's basically the same.
Schon's daughter Aja made a TikTok this month saying that Journey was playing in her town that night but that he didn't want to see her. She ends by saying "stopped believin' a long time ago."
Does this surprise you 🤔 Niel seems VERY shallow. Have you EVER seen so many law suits follow a man around like him. So HAPPY all this crap didn't get exposed when I was loving the Journey years with Perry. The VH1 Behind the Music tale was the start of all the dirt on the band, and its NEVER ended 😢
Gotta feel bad for Arnel Pineda during all this, man gets handpicked to take over for Perry and then has to deal with 15+ years of these assholes all the time? Poor Arnel!
@@vicariousjohnson9823 I can understand he made millions and also feel bad that works with assholes because my ability to empathize with a shitty situation isn't blinded by zeroes in a bank account.
There's a band that I used to work with, can't name them for now because legal, who mis-read thier recent tour contract and throught that they had found a loophole that meant the manager had to pick up all of thier personal expenses. Two members of the band went out and spent an absolute fortune on spa days, 5 star meals etc, and basically blew the entire tour budget and almost all of the profits. The other band members are suing them for thier share, but the only way to generate that sort of cash is to go back on tour. While they're suing one another for the money they stole on the last one. I will keep you updated as and when I am able to.
Yeah wow, check out that guy's criminal history. He wasn't convicted of all the original charges after some were dropped, but it takes talent for most people to just receive a single charge for any of the offences he was accused of. But it's okay, he put God first instead of last so all is forgiven, lol. What an awesome scam when you're really down for committing a couple dozen heinous acts in just the span of a week. Does the defense work too if I call God "Jiminy Cricket?" Don't I really just need an imaginary friend with a conscience? But let this be a lesson; never put God first, first. Always wait until after your crime spree, and only then tell people about your imaginary friend that prevents you from committing (allegedly, but who are we kidding) various manners of assault among other criminal acts (allegedl...zzzzzz). The lesson jeebus taught us is to never go full religious nutjob until after your crime spree.
Yeah, Deen does not have an awesome past. When this incident occurred, I was working for someone who is a friend of Deen’s. I hadn’t heard so many “yeah, but” statements in my life. My personal Deeno experience was that he came into the bar where my band was playing, he was already hammered, and my bandmates couldn’t stop the set soon enough to get off stage and go shake his hand. I chose to go sit and take my break, and I have zero regrets. He’s always going to have the aura of “local boy got big” every time he shows his face in Salem and Keizer Oregon, and I’m just not drinking the Flavor-Aid.
Not a big fan of Drama RU-vid but all is forgiven when Pat spends a minute trying to remember the name of the Journey drummer. That time might be a world record come to think of it
I haven't cared about Journey in 30 years, but if there is a chance these two geezers get into a brawl onstage, I would suffer through Def Leppard to see it happen live.
Seeing it for the first time in this video, it's a beautiful billboard. if the wear and tear of weather knocked off the top bit with his head it would be the best billboard of all time lol
I’m happy for you. Like, for real. I know the joy they brought me. I can remember asking myself. How am I watching a 40 minute video on seemingly nonsense, and yet have tears in my eyes. All the wild, and insane amount of research and editing goes into all these videos. There’s just an underrated genius to it all
Lol I clicked it immediately when it popped up and there are comments from an hour ago. I thought I was going to be one of the first here to the party.
I still think of this line whenever I hear one of their songs. I don't think it's ever approached this level of bad blood between them, but can see that the former friends probably spend as little time together offstage after the vitriol leading to and immediately after Curt Smith's departure after _The Seeds of Love_ as possible.
Funny because they decided to come back and make an album and what has journey done? They're one and only return tour had more vigor and energy than the last 30+ years of journey. They were great.
Think of all the hot legal action we’d be missing if Journey had just stayed a moderately successful jazz-inflected San Francisco prog rock band, that’s worth living in a world with Don’t Stop Believing, a song that had all the joy sucked out of it for me by the time I was in middle school.
What I find hilarious is that Journey was just another corporate rock band in the 80's with Foriegner, Styx, REO and the likes, they were not at all this huge legend they are called now. Most rockers called them soft rock or girl music. Yet one lousy TV show uses thier song and now they are the Rolling Stones.
@@kikiki4592I thought they took off because Family Guy did a bit with Don't Stop and all of a sudden they were back on "classic rock" radio playlists again.
From Double E's Wiki Page: "Castronovo was indicted by a Marion County grand jury on felony charges of rape, assault, sexual abuse, unlawful use of a dangerous weapon, and contempt of court (violation of terms of bail after the June 14 arrest)."
i appreciate that you needed to get the whole drum clinic story out of your system in order to remember the name of Journey Drummer. some truly remarkable stuff in this video.
I'm going to say that I hope the guy that wrote "Don't Stop Believin" gets everything he deserves. This is for everybody that's been annoyed every time they hear the song because it's always in a grocery store and there's always somebody singing it like they don't understand the concept of something being overplayed and unoriginal.
I recall telling someone back during the heyday of corporate rock that "If you think it's bad now, just wait until they become less rock and more corporate." Journey's a great example of this.
Going to journey tomorrow night in San Diego. Happened to meet Jonathan Cain once in Carmel. He was nice - only wanted to talk about football but he shared the DSB origin story.
Laughing my ass off.... and then he dropped the Nuge.... and I stopped breathing. Thankfully, I was able to catch a small breath, and speak in tongues like Paula White, and I was saved.
I pass that cryptic Journey Drummer billboard everyday on my way home from work and it always makes me laugh. It says “Bio-spine worked for me” - Journey drummer with no indication what or who that is.
He’s still recovering from his spinal surgery. I have the same problem so I understand how incredibly painful it is and how much it can mess your life up. He’s still making up fun stuff on his Patreon and I’ve got to say I’ve usually only supported that just to keep a channel afloat. But he does a lot on there even making up dumb games that are surprisingly fun. But yeah we all miss his big videos. And we can see how much work he puts into them especially for not being a computer guy. But yeah it sucks for all of us. Nice to see you’re understanding. Others have been complete butt holes. If prayer worked I’d spend half the days on my knees. I think he’d like that joke. 😅
Amateurs share stories about young rockstars partying and doing drugs. Our man is out here spreading word about old rockstars suing each other and being absurdly petty. Take notes, young'un. This is a masterclass.
Longtime Journey fan here, just old enough to remember the '80s heyday. Jon Cain is a complete piece of shit who has ruined that part of my childhood. His connections to Trump and the evangelical scene are worth joining Team Schon all by themselves, and in fact the big rift between them started when Cain dragged Arnel to the Trump Whitehouse for a photo-op. Schon flipped his lid and the distrust has been obvious (and warranted), since. If it helps your opinion of Schon, my Uncle Dan and his pals used to jam with Neal when they were teenagers (my uncle played blues harp), as he was a very generous dude who spent a shit ton of time with unknowns all around the Bay Area. My dad and my uncle spoke highly of him. They didn't even seem to know he'd gotten famous. They just loved him from the "good old days." Sure, Neal's gotten weird and eccentric as he ages, but he's nowhere near the piece of shit Cain has become.
Hahahaah Trump isn’t even renting space in your head. He’s occupied your entire head😂😂! Must be nice with all of the wide open space up there. From the sound of it. It’s a bit of a fixer upper seeing as Trump has second hand occupied it via his relationship with a washed up guitar player from the 80’s. I’m not attacking you. I’m just pointing out your own words. 😂😂😂😂
Over my adult life I've had numerous older women tell me that I look like Steve Perry. I always tell them that I don't really think of it as a compliment.
pondering the logistics of being in the same room as the guy you're suing every single night for months. that's gotta do something to you. makes you think if they've been suing each other for so long it's turned into a sort of weird codependent thing where neither can hang it up over a deep seated fear of dropping the case and never seeing their old pal again...
Just found your channel you're too funny dude. I'm a huge journey fan I saw them in 2018 with my favorite rock band Def Def Leppard. They put on a phenomenal show and it was all the members from journeys most commercial heyday except of course Steve Perry. After the show I thought wow I'd like to see them again (too late) barely a year and a half after I saw them they fired Ross Valerie and Steve Smithfor the second time. I don't care if it's Pink Floyd or a kiss or the stones journey takes the word dysfunction to a whole new level. 😅
The drummer you're thinking of is Deen Castronovo. I used to work at the Guitar Center in Salem, Oregon around 2014-2016. He would come in pretty frequently. He seemed like a cool guy (who was also crazy) He let one of my coworkers (who was the main drum guy at the store) drive his Dodge Viper. It was around this time that he got arrested for smoking a bunch of meth and beating up his girlfriend or wife or something. (I guess he was not so cool guy) I think she ended up covering for him in court so he didn't have to do real time, but he got kicked out of Journey.
There is a LOT of gold in this subject… insanity. Neal Schon made a pay-per-view of their wedding… how Schon’s wife crashed a White House state dinner (2009) and got pictures with the Black Eyed Peas… it’s wild. 2:54
I just saw them in Philly. You could kind of tell something was up as they stayed on their own side of the stage for the whole set. Regardless they ripped through those songs like they've been playing them for the last two decades.
