Thank you Sean and Johno (?) For such a fantastic episode. There was a lot of knowledge sharing . And what fantastic plants! I don't think I've ever seen such a large specimen of Morona.
I've wondered about the hype over circus peanuts, so the background story was very interesting! His specimens are amazing and his tips are things are things I've never heard before, so thank you for this fabulous episode!
Imo it's only hyped up that much because thus far, not too many people have it. Once it comes from TC, just like the Delta Force did, the hype will be gone almost overnight. It's mostly an "exclusivity" hype.
Love that you feature these collectors whom share their collection & their experiences with us. Great to obtain some of their knowledge to put to use! Enjoyed that & can't wait for next week's feature.
Oh my gosh, this is a fantastic episode. Thank you thank you guys. I love how you ask all the right questions and help get us those tips and tricks, you rock. My mind is also blown right now I’m about to do some moving around of my anthuriums lol
Loved seeing Jonna's five anthuriums that are his favorites. I was amazed how large the leaves are on his plants. I have always wanted a Circus Peanut Anthurium (that is my favorite candy).
This was so nice to see such huge anthuriums....wow! I wouldn't know where to put these plants in my house, ha. They are so beautiful. I do agree about potting mixes for sure. I only have one for most of my plants except my succulents. I never believed in having 20 different bags of potting soil sitting at my house! Thank you both for this informative video.
Usually the best potting media… is one in which the plant grew up in 😅 they really are adaptible to many different mediums. Its usually sudden changes that do them in.
This was such an interesting video, and I could have listened for hours. I've recently been experimenting with using tree fern fibre and semi-hydroponics in my anthurium potting mixes and have seen some excellent results so far. Especially with tree fern fibre. Thank you, Sean and Jonno ❤ x
That Vapor pressure deficit chart is fascinating. Also interestingly, as the temperature goes down, the humidity percentage will go up, as cooler air has a lower capacity to hold humidity (and the percentage is of the air’s capacity). So if someone is looking to raise their humidity reading, lowering the temperature is a good option (within reason of course).
The man, the myth, the legend… thanks for featuring Jonno! He’s always buying up all the good clones on AA 😉 Appreciate it that you continue to give platforms to amazing plant collectors. I love that we get to nerd out on your channel 💗
That is an awesome humidity chart! Never seen it before and explains why my Anthuriums aren’t doing so well. Thank you for including Fahrenheit conversions.
These anthuriums are more than gorgeous. Thank you to Jonno for giving us a glimpse of his collection. Now I may bring my anthuriums back inside sooner than I planned 😆
Hello, his speaking was absolutely fabulous to hear & love the information.I'm not a lover of Anthuriums( sorry) but I presently use all of his advice on my indoor plants..temp,light plus air.And what he said about the air-conditioning is spot on. In my state of Ohio our humidity indoors is 80. It was so unbearable I turned on the air knowing it wouldn't affect my plants because it dropped it down to 70. ( which is still decent) Happy to know this is why my plants is happy..Thank You, your contents are always worth waiting for.
Thank you so much for the time and work that you put into your videos I know that it takes a lot of effort. I especially like these types of videos that give key information into the care for a specific plant species. It helps me out since I'm a fairly new plant parent LOL got into house plants on my journey learning to do bonsai currently growing 4 Royal Poinciana.
Damn! Those plants are so huge, it’s like they’re props for a movie about people being shrunk down tiny. 😂 Amazing how the Veitchii and Morona are so huge in such small pots. I can’t imagine what the whole warehouse looks and feels like.
I only find these unique videos and information on your channel. u r seriously the best and thank you very much for making these unbelievable videos for us 👍🏻 I see plants I would never even imagined they exist and I get lots of inspiration and knowledge from them. THANK YOU!
Great insight and very educational. I’ve been growing these indoors for years and already learned some of these with first hand experience. However your explanation and highlight still taught me few tricks and confirmed some of my believes. Your willingness to share the knowledge and experiment with controlled variables to attain those knowledge takes tremendous effort. Most people typically are unwilling to share or refuse to make the effort to document. I think it worth the effort to write a paper out of this :) I really appreciate this episode!
Thanks so much Sean..I always come away from watching your videos learning something new. Thanks to Johno for sharing his knowledge of Anthurium care. The humidity & temperature control is something I had been trying to get right..now I know. Btw his Anthuriums are massive ❤😊
Such a rare gem ! I mean the anthuriums as well. But jonno is so knowledgeable and willing to share some of his secrets in plant care. So thank you jonno, thank u Sean.
WHAT SUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL PLANTS..... THANKS.SEAN AND JONO. SEAN....AT ANY TIME DID YOU THINK TO GET JONO TO KEEP PICKING 5 FAVORITE PLANTS TO SHOW US EVERY WEEK? THAT WAY WE WOULD GET TO SEE HIS ENTIRE COLLECTION..... EVENTUALLY 😮😊😅 DEFINATELY A SCIENCE OF OBSEVATION COMES INTO THE CARE OF ANY PLANT. 🕊🐘✨️🙌💙🙏💚🙏💙🙏🙌✨️🦋🐝
I just googled the metallicum, cute! I think narrow leaf anthurium might be a thing soon, as our host from this upcoming weeks anthurium episode stresses out
excellent episode! love all the insights and sean asking the right questions. cant wait for next week! btw, will we get to see the rest of jonno's collection as well?
I really enjoyed this segment on anthuriums. I will be in Thailand in October and your channel has been helpful in looking at places to visit. It makes we want to travel to other places as well, especially Singapore. I've been to Vietnam and the Philippines. I wish I could bring back plants with me every time, lol.
Great video. Thanks for editing out the noise of the rain. I did not know about the vapor pressure deficit chart. I will definitely be experimenting with that chart. Thanks.
I never saw so huge anthuriums!!!❤❤ Thanks so much for so good care tips, even if it's not easy to reproduce because it depends a lot on the climate and conditions that we can give to the plants! I am looking forward to the next episod with Mr Chandra!!! I remember his beautiful house and garden!!! ❤❤
Sweet! I myself am just starting to pay attention to my anthuriums! They’re doing better than before. They really do respond to environment and care style!
Really loved this video Sean,! While I enjoy hybrids, I grow mostly species , so this really spoke to me. But that super narrow form vetchii........O M G
I used to love those circus peanuts when I was a kid lol 😝 Great information about growing conditions. I grow my anthurium in ambient house conditions. They tend to look bad during the winter but that’s how it goes. I’m going to study up on that chart. Thank you for the great video, Sean!
Absolutely fantastic and educational video - thank you so much for sharing this information! I am very dedicated to understanding and knowing the lineage of Anthurium - I love to know the history behind the creation and/or origin. Also, the data surrounding optimal growing environments was amazing!
@@onlyplants that’s great! It was also very gratifying to learn ideal temp/humidity ratios and potting mediums. I do not believe that plants should be hidden a tent, or shut away in a cabinet, so all of my Anthurium are living in ambient with supplemental humidifiers. Are average in home environment is 70C/50% humidity, which is great. My potting medium is also nearly the same! I may add some pumice as well. I used to add a bit of pon.
It would be really cool if you could do a history of anthurium hybrid episode. I know its crazy at this point in time but Id like to know the history of Tim Anderson and Doc Block and NSE and Ree Gardens and such. It probably wouldn't be a super popular video but this information is really hard to find. I too love the stories behind plants and find it frustrating that its easier to buy complex hybrids (that can look gorgeous of course) but sometimes all but impossible to find a pure species.
Thats actually an excellent idea but Im not sure if Im up for the job lol. A sort of timeline / family tree type video would be cool to track the journey of some of the coolest anthurium we see today. I hope an anthurium enthusiast can make one. I would surely repost it for the community if that video comes to light❤️
I have watched this a few times now. Absolutely blown away at the size and quality of those Anthuriums! Also found it interesting that he doesn't breed them. I was just wondering if you could share what AI software you used to remove the rain sounds? It worked like a charm!
Thank you for sharing wonderful video. Top 5fav plants 😵💫😍😱 specially "sp. MORONA " 😍. Thank you for the care & Tips. Your editing is always simple but Great. Love from India 💙.
@@onlyplants honestly love the channel I always end up learning something new and truly enjoy seeing all the amazing plants and it’s definitely inspiring. Maybe one day I’ll have my lil jungle on your channel along with all my bioactive planted reptile and amphibian enclosures 🤷♂️
Sounds like a plan...I have an area that gets light from a South facing window along a staircase, now I got a little project 😊 exciting to see how they do there! I have noticed my (Magnificum x Ace of spades) started producing leaves one after the other when I brought in indirect light in our porch, it wasn't doing anything for months when I brought it home and left it in my greenhouse, the new leaf was same size as the previous. Now they are getting bigger with every new one. I can just imagine when I bring it indoors 😅 thanks again for this, knowledge is power!
can you tell me about tissue culture anubias nana petite what dosage of medium is needed i am trying many times but all failed, the plant does not sprout and grow with: Ms: 2.4g Kinetine: 0.15g Agar: 4g sugar: 15g look forward to your feedback
