I have a Black Obsidian skull head but it's much smaller. I used to wear it as a pendant on my necklace, now it's hanging in my car. I love to wear black and grey.. I also love this Stone/Rock/Crystal. Thank you for the information. Love&Light Asé

Hi Shiela, its me again, is obsidian like my rainbow obsidian can be used as jewelry everyday? My concern is that it is very soft unlike the black tourmaline or onyx. It is below 5 in Mohs scale. Any advice

Hi Marc, yes, you can wear it every day because it is pretty sturdy once it is polished like they usually are in jewelry. I would just keep it away from water and too much friction. If you do see it wearing down, make sure to give it a rest. You may want to consider a pendant if you do a lot of work with your hands as opposed to a bracelet.

Hello Sheila...I bought a figurine obsidian in the shape of buddha although I already own a tumbled obsidian....My tumbled obsidian is shiny and it looks like glass while the figurine I bought is not that shiny (not like glass) is it still genuine? by the way its black obsidian

Hi JM, Black Obsidian can be found in a matte texture, especially if it is not well polished. The only way to know for sure is to have it tested in a gem lab, check with the vendor for all they know about the piece, or try the DIY Obsidian fake vs real tests: satincrystals.com/pages/obsidian-article If it ends up you did get fake Obsidian, take it as a learning experience; it happens to the best of us!

Hi, I’m not sure what causes a color change. Some healer said changes because of the energy exchange. Scientifically it could be the temperature of your body or surroundings.

Hi Shar, there is no better or worse, just different. Different people are attracted to different energies so some people prefer Obsidian to protect and others prefer onyx. Which ever one draws you most. Or if you can’t decide just double up!

They are just different, depending on the healer and your preference. You might find one more protective than the other, while another healer might find the other more protective. If, in doubt, try them both out!

I bought 2 different kind of bracelets with obsidian beads. One of them is triple protection with tiger eye and hematite; the other is only obsidian with evil eye agate. One of the obsidian beads in the triple protection one broke, but I'm not sure if it's true obsidian. It definitely has a sharp edge, but it's not too translucent. It has like a brownish color, though. I do not know if I should get rid if the bead pieces of bury them in the ground... Does anyone have any answers that they can share? Thank you!

hi! i went to a crystal store and got a black obsidian necklace. it’s currently sitting out in moonlight. she said if you can shine a flashlight at it and lightly see though it, it’s real. is that correct?

Hi Ashlee, yes Obsidian should be translucent. However, so is glass and a number of other stones, so it is not a definitive answer. If you bought the necklace from a trustworthy and educated gemstone vendor then I would not worry. I had to stop watching your video because of the volume booms that actually hurt my ears. I think you start your sentences too close to the mic or the mic needs balancing. I'm guessing it may be a yeti microphone. They work well if your voice is monotone mainly. Good luck on your journey.
