She wrote me a valentine way back in the third grade.
It read, "Will you be mine?" in red and white of different shades.
She was my best friend-a bit of a tom boy.
We made adventures out of everything that we enjoyed.
We made it to high school, and one year in, she's popular.
I was a drama kid, the class clown, the choir nerd.
No one understood, why she would talk to me.
Little did we know that what we shared was more than history.

She got a boyfriend named Mr. Quarterback
He was the prom king with an entourage of copy cats.
