@@robsalisbury2550 My mistake on the 212. That would make it a 205, not necessarily a UH-1H.

More than likely zero. The screen on the end of the fill hose has smaller openings than the size of a golfball. However, they may have had a few get stuck in the weeds attached to the screen at the end of the fill hose. If there were any, they'd have dropped off during the flight to the fire. The screens were pretty much clean on the return fill trips.

@@airboyd Most likely the pilot is trying to get into effective translation lift (ETL). This allows the pilot to have a little more power by moving forward to get clean air into the rotor disk making it more efficient. Until they get about 10-20 knots staying close to the ground in ground effect until ETL occurs.

Ah, that helps a bit. #2 sat really low each time and it really stuck out compared to the others. I skipped getting a rotary rating as there was likely no job prospect. Good info!
