Fun fact: the duck sound it makes on startup might not be a random thing. "Ocarina" is an archaic way to say "little duck" in italian, likely due to the shape of the instrument.
@@Jamal_Tyrone Yeah I don't know if it's the same guy, but I saw someone with the same avatar on RU-vid and found it to be remarkable. My guess is it was the same person.
The ideal gift from a grandfather is/was Big Bird's Portable Piano. It recorded every keystroke the child made, which were usually random out of tune sounds or repeated strokes of the same key, for an unlimited time. And then would play all that back! I'm not certain what I did to deserve my father sending this to my children. They loved it. I didn't. It was nearly indestructible. I had the devil of a time making its loss seem like an accident.
Why didn't you like it? Was it annoying? Ugly? Did it play the tunes out of the blue? You couldn't have just put it away then take it out once a day for example?
@@rat_dragon i have a five year old. And taking something out once a day is not allways a great choice and its a good lesson to learn that not everything can be fixed or kept forever. The drum set my in laws got my little one met a freak accident... And all ended well
This sounds like my mom and an obsession she said I had with Beauty and the Beast (the original one). She said I would run around on all fours, like Beast 😂. That part sounds like me but I swear I can't remember being so enthralled with the movie. Ix couldn't even remember most of its details until rewatching it in adulthood. One day, she had enough and the VHS went "missing". Not saying it's always good to do that with your kids' items but when they're too young to understand that an item or their behavior is driving you up the wall, quietly removing said thing is usually not going to be missed long term. I'm sure I had a plethora of other Disney movies to watch that didn't inspire me to run around on all fours 😂. She said she would call my name and that's how I'd run up to her, like some wild animal and picturing that kills me but I can see how that might begin to get concerning when your child has shunned walking on two legs, especially when they're about to start school 🤣🤣🤣
I can already hear him being delightfully confused at the duck startup... If he ever does take a look at this, I hope that we get to enjoy another "manchild tantrum" stress test demo.
Let's see what the field test by your grandson (by the way - congratulations Grandma and Grandpa Shrimp! ) reveals in terms of breaking strength and impact resistance.
That looks great for the intended use, although age 3 or so I could see it being wielded as a melee weapon. Hey, consider recording yourself and/or Mrs. Shrimp reading favorite nursery rhymes, something to pop up in shuffle mode. It's neat when the kid is starting to put things together and recognizes your voice coming from not-you.
Congrats on the grandchild! My grandfather was the closest I had to a father until I was adopted, and the things I learned from him still carry on today. With all the wisdom and knowledge you hold, you're gonna be the coolest granddad in town. I swear, you could make a video just of you reading random ingredient labels, and all of us would happily watch and listen, lol.
I never guessed you had a grandson! Wow congrats! Also congrats to your grandson and I am jealous of him as he will listen to you telling him before bedtime stories with your calming voice! I always imagined you as if you are the same age as I am being 23 [Maybe psychology geeks can explain this] Also congrats for this video being 999 which is a heavenly number and congrats for reaching +800K subscribers!
@@Jamal_Tyrone I didn't watch all his videos, that is why I never knew how he looks, I always hear his voice only that is why I let me imagination think he is in his 20s especially with his Borosa and Warosa sense of humor
I was surprised myself being 21 that he’s closer to my fathers age than my own, I imagine it’s because being the age we are we are used to social media influencers starting their careers very young and subconsciously expected the same from him ? some kind of cognitive bias maybe. Though it’s no harm done even us younger fans thoroughly enjoy the content and i guess it gives us something to look up to. We’re so inundated with these really young genius people it’s nice to be reminded you don’t have to be perfect young
8:58 when you turn the volume up to max on "unlimited audio" there are 3 horizontal lines that come out of the speaker image, when you lower the volume it goes to 2 and then lower shows 1 line, so I guess thats a way to differentiate between the different sound modes, "limited audio" shows vertical lines coming out of the little speaker image 7:44
For a second I thought this was a Dankpods video and then I was startled by the lack of green tablet. Of course immediately happy to discover this was Atomic Shrimp!
I love your channel, and although I don’t actually know you, I think it’s safe to say you seem to be a rather wholesome and good hearted fellow. Anyway, I don’t have kids or anything, I just knew it would be an enjoyable experience as all your videos are.
Interesting that a toy for very young children doesn't have any cover for the charging port on the side. Those things can be very fragile and susceptible to drool. Then again the rubber covers they use sometimes can be a choking hazard so
The names of the stories made me almost well up, idk why. Doubly the sweet, twee nature of them, and the idea that people made those to end up on this tiny product
Theres a 'Tiny DV Camcorder' online (despite what the name suggests, it uses SD not some form of miniDV) that costs £6.50 and says its 480p. No-one has done a review on it it; it would be interesting what a review which can be confirmed as true (unlike amazon reviews)
Having bought a few dirt cheap import nuggetcams over the years...it's almost universally potatovision because the optics are built down to that nugget price. Modern low end image sensors aren't even that awful, but put a terrible lens in front of it and you get a terrible camera with most of the standard potato artifacts of older low end cellphone cameras.
480p is £4.80, presumably the PAL version costs £6.25. Sorry, that was a terrible attempt at nerd humour. Edit: Also, I've compared the visible fields of NTSC with the number of fields in an entire PAL frame. So the PAL version should actually cost £5.75.
I would guess it's bloody awful though, having bought a few video recording devices at "very cheap" prices. The channel "SMOOREZ" may well have a review of it, he tends to cover cheap crap tech products.
@@igotes I couldn't find any reviews for it but its only a couple quid and is covered by amazon returns so might as well give it a shot. Also on the amazon reviews they seemed legit as they didn't name it as something that would beat a well-known brand or more expensive product. For example: 'GOOD QUALITY FOR PRICE, NOT A PROFESSIONAL SPY CAM BUT DEFINITELY DOES ITS TASK' and 'decent picture'.
@@bookedsam I'd still rather not buy useless crap even if it is only "a couple quid". I'd argue that attitude is why these awful products exist to begin with
I notice you always have some quite nice looking knives you use for unboxing, foraging etc. Would you consider detailing them at some point in a video?
Dank pods would love that. Maybe an atomic/dank colab?.....after reading the comments it's nice to see there's just as many dank fans here as there are shrimpettes
Wow, atomic shrimps a granddad? I no idea. I was about to write i thought he was just a bit older than me, then i realized it wouldn't be out of the relm of possibility for me to have grandchild....when did i get old?
In case you haven't notice it yet @Atomic Shrimp, it looks like there actually *is* a volume indicator in that unlimited or outdoor mode. At least i noticed that the... sound stripes (?) coming from the speaker symbol on the screen increased from one up to three when you turned the volume all the way up. Cheers
@@AtomicShrimp yes, and in-between the warning symbol and the speaker symbol are stripes. But ones that usually indicate "this speaker is making noise". It's around 8:30 in the video. And no I don't mean those stripes that look more like a phone reception symbol in the quiet-mode. They are distinct. I am really sorry if my description is not as precise as possible, but there is still a bit of a language barrier.
@@Sallafar oh, I see what you mean. Just checked and you're right, although there are only 3 levels of indication with those lines, as opposed to 6 vertical bars in the volume limited mode
I had no idea you had a grandson! Can I send you a retrospective congratulations!? Love everything you do...I can make butter with my hands thanks to you! X
Is the headphone amp stereo? Obviously the single speaker is mono, but its value is definitely higher if the decoder and headphone amp are stereo. And re the official age range, for compliance it is probably NOT legally rated for children. Which is why the warning disclaimers all say not for use by children, they have just used the standard compliance for a typical electronic device.
I saw ocarina and went straight to the comments, expecting to find remarks from people saying British people pronounce ocarina in an incorrect or amusing way. I don't know what these people think the "correct" way is, perhaps it's just a meme I don't understand.
@@ehalil101 that's quite possibly not your fault. Most of the ocarinas available on eBay and the like are cheap Chinese attempts which are rarely tuned well, at all 😂
@@Charky_Creations My one was made for Legend of Zelda (it was in a box with a picture of Link on it) so it looks like the one from OoT so I reckon it was supposed to be a display piece anyway 😀
I wonder if their is a market for this, most people want a tablet for children for “e-babysitting” with baby shark. That being said i love stand alone music players, and It would be great if you want to give a kid a music player without a screen-to limit screen time
I don't think it's related to anything. The item has a little goose or a duck as its logo (ocarina means little goose in Italian, since the inventor Giuseppe Donati thought it looked like a goose's body). That's about all the relevance this product has.
Pretty cool. Good luck, wrenchingly that out of your grandson's hands again, though 😅 My brother built a simple RFID music player for my nephew, when he was little. That should be right up your alley, too - although your grandson is still a little young for that yet, I guess. It's nice for a kid, to have their own collection of music and audiobooks, but without the need for internet access or a complicated/easily damaged gadget.
@@jendorei The music or audiobooks are on little discs, but all the kid has to do, is hold them against the music box. No inserting stuff or need for cables or batteries or anything. The box just had basic controls: stop and play and volume control. And they have remote control over it, so they don't need to get up, if he plays his stuff to loudly early in the morning or something like that.
One of these things keeps popping up on eBay when I search for Ocarina (as in, the musical instrument) because the person who's listed this thinks it's a flute, I guess?
