Ocarina Of Time Made Me... Nostalgic? 

OoT is one of those rare games where the whole soundtrack is so famous and intertwined with gaming as a whole, you've probably heard a ton of the songs in other places or videos haha. It's truly a legendary game, worthy of being called one of the best games ever made.

Ocarina of Time is about nostalgia, loss of innocence, melancholy, loneliness... Its music, specially the title theme, really conveys all this. And let me tell you: this game made me nostalgic... when I was 5

That strange part of the hyrule field theme was actually what the theme transitions into when an enemy is nearby, this game used music in really creative ways ahead of its time. Joy to see you listen to some of the songs!

This game has such an iconic soundtrack that even if you didn't play a TLOZ title you could guess that it belongs to it.

Hyrule Field is actually a context theme, if you're moving around exploring it plays the first section, if you enter a battle it plays the second more serious section and it you go afk or just stop to enjoy the view standing still it plays the third more calm section. It's a very nice touch.

Gerudo Valley is iconic for a reason, I remember at one point in my childhood, parking link in a somewhat safe area and just having this music play in the background of me playing with my toys.😂 It’s so wonderful and peppy.

The Windmill theme is one of those weird tunes that stuck with the player less because of the simple and catchy theme, and more because of its significant role in some parts of the game, (as well as in Majora's Mask, the sequel to Ocarina of Time) and it's strangely profound symbolism. It goes around, and around, and around, never knowing where it began, never knowing where it ends. The catchy tune brings cheer and joy to some, sorrow and anger to others. And playing it causes the very heavens to violently swirl with storms, yet it also opens the earth and lets you see the souls of the dead. Everything is connected. It goes around, and around, and around...

Ocarina of Time is a game not everyone has played or even knows, but most of the time they know at least one song from the game. This video was really fun to watch, and especially the reactions to the songs you recognized :D, and I hope to see the other 3d zelda OST reactions in the future, because they slap as hard as this!!!

We need a part 2. Some of the Ocarina jingles are crazy good, and then there's the temple music. The whole OST of this game is S tier.

Fun fact about the Lost Woods theme. Early on in the game when you're expected to go through the Lost Woods the first time for story progression reasons, the flute part of the theme only plays if you're on the path that leads deeper into the woods. If you go off the path, you only hear the percussion. It's not the only theme in the game to be dynamic like this (the ranch theme is another example, with a vocal component that is centered around the ranch girl character who's meant to be singing said vocals, and that component fades into or out of the track as you approach or walk away from her), but the Lost Woods theme being dynamic for that one part of the game is unique because it ties into both gameplay and story. Certainly doesn't explain why you can hear the full theme no matter what any other time, but it's still cool.

The joy during Lost Woods was so infection - love the discoveries! Such a fun and enjoyable video this one - one of my favourites so far

I was hoping for Wind Waker but this is a good call. Now we get to experience the evolution of Zelda

You still need to hear a lot more of these tracks. Like the Lon Lon Ranch/Epona Song, Zelda's lulliby, Ganondorf's theme or the theme of the fight against Ganondorf or the final battle.

Even in the early days, Koji Kondo had mastered the art of the earworm, and it is on full display in this game!

One cool thing about Ocarina of Time's Hyrule Field theme is that it's divided into small sections that, I don't know for sure, but I think it plays randomly... but sometimes it seems to be contextual with what you do while exploring. . For example: The "calmer" part (the one that plays at the end before the loop) always played with me when I was invading the castle. Twilight Princess's Hyrule Field theme does something similar

We NEED a second part, Ocarina of Time has a lot of good songs to offer, you need to check out more of it =D I loved the video!

The windmill hut is also one of the most iconic songs in the francihse. The Song of Storms. A song able to summon rainfall wherever is played, summon big fairies in certain places and sometimes clench dark spirits.

You should listen to all the dungeon and temple themes from Ocarina of Time. Each is unique and really sets the tone for each dungeon in Temple. Like the Shadow Temple theme just adds to the dark and downright creepy aesthetic and the theme for the spirit Temple gives it even more of a desert Arabic feel that I absolutely love

So suprising fact about the title theme when you called it a flute you where right. Its part is a call back to the sound played when you use the flute in the original NES Zelda

Wow, I never really noticed this before, but that Hyrule Field do be sounding like Starfox 64 end credits.

You definitely need to listen to more of these. Id say most of the dungeon themes should be on the list. And also stuff like lon lon ranch and zeldas lullaby

Please do Majora's mask next. Termina field theme, Song of Healing, Oath to Order, Clock town(all 3 days), Final hours and most of all Stone Tower theme are all such gems

The game was programmed to seamlessly transition the music when different events were happening in hyrule field. The field is like the gigantic main map that you have to travel across to get from setting/level to setting/level. It was open world sandbox. It would turn night time, or an enemy would pop out, and it would flawlessly transition the music. It was pretty ahead of its time.

10:54 does not feel right without Link constant grunting from rolling everywhere

This game has been such a big part of my childhood. The music, the sounds, the ambience, the visuals and everything just makes me so oddly feel at home and peace.

I love this so much! I recently had a friend play OoT for the first time earlier this year and he was surprised at just how many songs he recognized in the game due to the countless videos he's seen that had them in the background. It made his playthrough a bit more enjoyable since he felt as though everywhere he went, it felt familiar

Speaking of dynamic themes, holy Hyrule Field theme, Batman. First of all, the dissonant part of what you listened to is the Field Battle theme. In gameplay, the theme seamlessly switches into the first part of that if you're in battle when the current movement of the Field theme ends. The Battle part of the theme is composed of multiple movements like the main Field theme, and when battle has ended, the theme switches back at the end of the current movement of the Field Battle theme. The gentle part of the theme at the end is what plays if you're standing still. Under that condition, that part of the Field theme is otherwise handled the same as the FIeld Battle theme. Also, I think the movements of the main Field theme play in a random order during gameplay.

Here's a fun thing if you're interested: Listen to the OST version of the horse race song from this game and then for comparison listen to the 2018 orchestrated version of it. It's my favourite example for how phenomenal all the official Zelda orchestra performances are.

Sheik's theme is my personal favorite. There's also a vaporwave version of it that is so good too. Edit: Btw, you HAVE to listen to the Bravely Default OST if you haven't already. You're not ready for it.

I'm so glad you reacted to this! Ocarina of Time was one of the games I played as a child, and it's grown to be my favorite videogame of all time. The soundtrack just adds so much more to the amazing world you're exploring! :)

Ocarina of Time's Hyrule Field theme does not contain more than those teasing few notes of the classic Zelda theme you were hoping to hear. If you want to hear that theme in a style reminiscent of these themes, I'd recommend listening to some Majora's Mask music. Termina Field is a remix of the classic Zelda theme at its core, with some unique flair. A Majora's Medley would be a good listen anyway, with themes like Clock Town, Stone Tower, Ikana Castle, Deku Palace, Woodfall Temple, Clock Tower/Song of Healing, and Skull Kid for example. Just, if you do do a Majora's Mask medley, whatever else you pick, I'd recommend starting with the Clock Town themes and ending with Final Hours.

Please do Twilight Princess. My all time favourite Zelda. Title theme with wolf howl, Zant's theme, duel with Ganondorf, Midna's lament

You think this made _you_ feel nostalgic, now imagine you grew up with this game when you were like five years old, playing it with your cousins and never beating until many years later because parts of it were pretty scary. Perfectly mirroring how it's a story about a kid growing up way too fast and needing to face up to adult responsibilities, never really able to go home again. I'm pretty sure nostalgia is _exactly_ what they were going for. OoT is, like... a core memory.

Honestly the Oot soundtrack so beautiful and amazing. Im so glad its considered one of the best games of all time. It really deserves it.

The opening ocarina bit in the title theme is the Whistle tune from Zelda 1! (also used in SMB3 for the Warp Whistle)

dunno why they called it Windhill Hut... yes it plays in the windhill... but the song is called Song of Storms

Oh! OoT is my all time favorite piece of media ever! I do hope there will be more parts on this game because there are so many good tracks in this. I highly recommend some dungeon themes like the Forest Temple (my personal favorite) or the Water Temple and Spirit Temple. Some character themes would also be really nice to hear again like Sheik's theme or Ganondorf's battle themes. (yes both of them) And perhaps we could even get a video on Majora's Mask as well.

I listened to a slowed and reverb version of this Kakariko Village and was literally in tears the whole time AAAAGHHH

I hope you do touhou music in the future. The entirety of the series help caused the creation of undertale and all of its music. As a plus the creator of the series is very lax with the copyright for his characters and music which allows for anyone to create derivative works of touhou from song remixes to selling your own games. For some song suggestions they are Gensokyo the Gods Loved, Broken Moon, Maiden's Capprico, Love Colored Master Spark, Flowering Night, Hartman's Youkai Girl, and U.N. Owen Was Her.

10:23 I think those are castanets - they're a Spanish instrument commonly used for Flamenco dancing. They are also used during the song's opening, and a couple of other Zelda games have them in the soundtrack as well.

Aaah H*ll yeah!! Ocarina of Time has one of my favorite OST games in the history of my life, it's literally my second favorite game. I'm excited to this video!!

But but.... the forest temple. If I was recommending someone listen to OOT I cant imagine I would have chosen a single one of these songs, well maybe lost woods because it's so iconic. Part 2? ;)

Oh, also, Zelda has a lot of inspiration from Twin Peaks, a series which also has a lot of importance on its music, and Kakariko is it's own Twin Peaks! To the point, that even on Breath of the Wild and Teara of the Kingdom, is near a literal twin peaks mountain!

Could you imagine Ocarina Of Time (1997) was actually the first 3d Zelda game and yet one of the best till this day.

Maybe the tease of the Hyrule "Overworld" theme never fully playing in Ocarina was because it was going to be, what, like... the 4th game that same music would be featured in the franchise. I feel like Koji Kondo wanted to experiment with his theme a little bit, make something different, since this was a brand new experience in a Zelda game (it was the first 3D zelda game, after all, so everithing in the game felt brand new at the time). It might have disappointed many Zelda fans at the time (for me, personally, it never bothered me, since this was the very first Zelda game I've played - and it COMPLETELY BLEW MY MIND), and that MAY BE the reason why he brought back the classic Hyrule theme for the sequel Majora's Mask.

Fun fact is that to my knowledge Ocarina of Time is the only Zelda game in the series that never used the Zelda theme. Extra weird since it's one of the best known.

Funny thing about all the teasing, the main Legend of Zelda theme doesn't actually appear anywhere in Ocarina of Time.

OoT shows remarkable restraint at blaring the series theme, instead teasing it as a motif throughout the OST. We get a proper showing in the credits but yeah.

Love the reactions here, a lot of the games popular songs here. Music overall is a big part of Zelda, and this one perhaps most prominently. The ocarina in the title is part of the gameplay, and playing songs is a core part of the game. If I had to recommend future Zelda games to listen to, two come to mind. Skyward Sword has one of my favorite OSTs in the series. Ballad of the Goddess is my favorite song in the series. The second is A Link Between Worlds, besides it remixing one of the most iconic Zelda Soundtracks (A Link to the Past), it also has imo one of the best final dungeon themes in Lorule Castle, which I know your reaction to it would be great.

The one zelda theme you know is the zelda series main theme but its rarely used in 3d zelda games! But almost alll 2d zelda games use it! Its either called main theme, overworld theme or hyrule field theme!

You want super cool and funky classic music, you should check out the banjo kazooie soundtrack, you'd have fun with that one =P

You've heard of the Windmill theme because it is a rendition of the Song of Storms, which Link plays on the Ocarina. So it probably will stand out but sound different. There are a fair few songs missed here but because they're small bits and not full themes they won't be listed in the soundtrack, Zelda's Lullaby is fundamentally the most well-known.

I'm surprised Zelda's Lullaby wasn't in here. I think it may be the one past theme that's referenced more than any other in the BOTW and TOTK soundtracks.

Thing about the main theme for legend of zelda: the original theme is only heard, to the best of my knowledge, in the very first game. Every other game uses it as a leitmotif mixed into other music. Some use it more intact that others but you'll never hear the original in any of the other games. Suggestion: you may want to try listening to the songs from ocarina of time, majora's mask and possibly some of the other games too. They're short but some of them are pretty nice pieces.

I never played this game, but it's one of those I've heard a bunch about over the years and it keeps popping up here and there. I recognize a little of the soundtrack myself but not much. Lost Woods especially has jumped out at me for years, I'm not sure where I first heard it and imprinted it into my memory. For some reason it makes me think of a PS2 game my big brother used to play, I think called Dark Cloud maybe? Emily, I wonder, do you ever listen to soundtracks from obscure / unpopular games on the channel, or is it only well known ones? There's an RPG for the Mega Drive I've played some of and really enjoy the soundtrack, called Crusader of Centy. Really powerful music and all, but very little known. I'd recommend you give it a listen in your spare time someday (I don't really want to suggest it for the channel because I don't know if you'd be willing to, since almost nobody knows it). But of course that's up to you, you might wind up getting people interested in it if you did XD

The Zelda theme you’re looking for is from Link to the Past. Original Zelda had many songs that defined Zelda, but Link the theme past made it main stream

@ 0:16 you mention a hearing what sounds like flute, funny thing, this sound is from Zelda 1, there is a flute that teleports you, and first couple notes it plays is actually that flute in Title Theme. Find an emulator and play the game, you wont regret it.

It was good watching this reaction. As for the tease in Hyrule Field, listen to Termina Field when reacting to the music from Majora's Mask.

Hyrule field was timed where the daytime cycle was the nice, cheery, calming tones… but should you stay a bit too long, farm a few too many grass clumps… and miss the darkening sky… thats when the one peaceful spot in the land became the land of 10000 dead, and they really really wanted to make you into their palindrome.

that was back when nintendo put great soundtracks into games. also snes console had alot of gems. game called war of the gems for snes was one of last games released before end of snes and birth of n64. but it had good music.

I'd recommend the Advance Wars Reboot Camp OST its got some great themes in it
