"Fascism in power is the open, terroristic dictatorship of the most reactionary, the most chauvinistic, the most imperialistic elements of finance capitalism"- Karl Marx
Very Nice, Thank You for sharing. Sincerely, from one artist to another.. Everone, Regardless of where you stand .. you owe it... to YOURSELF... to Watch...
"For those sleeping in the December cold"? As a St. Paul's Occupier, from Day One and for weeks and weeks, I barely recognised more than about four faces in that crowd! This was a gig organised by a small core, largely for their own circle, cutting out most of we Occupiers... ...in the building they 'liberated' to avoid "the December cold".
Using Rap & Poetry, I fought back against family racism towards my mixed race daughter. Crown court then banned that rap & poetry. First ever British Rap-Poet to be given a.. "5 year Rap & Poetry ban" (2009-2014) #FamilyRacism #Censorship #Injustice 3 occupy videos on my channel... 2 london, 1 amsterdam.
@katysovereign no, a fan cannot make a choice for tickets when they log on to a sight and they are sold out before they go on sale. you are correct they dont make free market terms, but radiohead has been named as a band receiving a cut of aftermarket ticket sales. that means they are ok with someone reselling a ticket for $900. ticketmaster owns the ticket resell company. that means they can declare the show sold out before the scheduled time to go on sale. radiohead is ok withit
@dizrokwel no they aren't, they specifically have taken measures against scalpers, such as requiring the same credit card that you bought the ticket with to be shown at the concert venue when you arrive.
it will be interesting to see how they avoid operating "within the system" when they release the CD for fundraising. Hopefully they will walk the walk. Assuming it happens, as reported in the UK press.
@wootwootbreh He's not talking about keeping money in the state. He's talking about the lack of regulations for banks. For example, creating commodity markets for wheat and oil, then buying up all the shares and driving up the price - Never selling the commodities in order to keep the price up -- like holding oil (JP Morgan Chase have so many barrels of oil they had to hire an offshore oil tanker just to hold them.) These actions by the banks hurt the rest of the public a LOT.
Massive Attack, I have the utmost love and respect for the music you make and your influence on the industry. Having said that, please keep your political views to yourself til you (3D) learn more of Economies and Societies. Love, Love your music! Hopefully you change your mind.
I respect both Thom and 3D greatly and hold them in the highest regard as musicians and artists. However, they did not truly offer an alternative to the situation. 4 years later, the US economy has absolutely rebounded, not so much in Europe. I agree with parts of their message, but not really sure how effective they were in implementing any meaningful change.
@HocicoVulpes There is nothing wrong with a democratic capitalist system providing a) its democratic and b) free market. However, that is not the case so we can't describe our society as democratic and capitalist when it has not fulfilled those ideals. Doesn't matter what ideological 'ism' you put in place, if people are corrupt, the ideology will become corrupted. I'm anti-corruption, not anti-capitalist. I think some people need to understand that. All the best.
@zedosix (cont2...) Now you have educated people out of work and you have to be dual income and work overtime to buy a home, pay for daycare and hopefully have a bit left over to save for retirement. Despite the fact that computers allow me to do at least 10 times the amount of work I could 20 years ago I work more OT than my dad ever did.
@DickyDer1 Even if that were true it doesn't negate the fact that we need to follow the Austrians, and not musicians who get there information from 1 documentary. Just because its on film doesn't mean it's true. Read Hayek's "Road to Surfdom"
@dizrokwel their record company makes a lot of these decisions, not them. whenever they can, it seem Radiohead goes out of their way to give their music out as cheaply as possible. In Rainbows was sold for whatever price one could afford.
@zedosix some people have compassion and understanding outside their own little bubble. What you don't seem to understand is that this society cannot function without every little role being filled. It is technically impossible for every last person to creat a business and employ people. Who are you going to employ if they all are running their own business? We need engineers, IT people, cooks, people to work at the dump, the power stations, the waste water treatment plants.
@zedosix Turns you off? Good riddance. This is not about laziness. It's about a corporate/government partnership that is taking the average citizen to the woodshed. They are taking our dollars, limiting our opportunities, and compromising our future. Get a clue.
@curtj52 No I totally get it. I agree with what he's saying I thought he was a bit rambling and embarrassing on first listen. To be fair he speaks well to his peers but the thing is Occupy needs people to speak academically with some good economic, historical and political authority, to help the middle class understand it and make this a genuine movement for change. I do acknowledge that isn't Thoms job, but someone needs to do it or it just stays mostly self reverential. Get on it!
hierarchy reestablishes itsself in so many forms and capitalism is just the most recent most virile form of it . we gotta think about humans relate to each other fundamentally and if you are against hierarchy than thats an-archy . get it?
@katysovereign no i dont. but dont speak on injustices in the corporate world, then set a ticket price at 75 bux (reasonable), then have ticketmaster post the tickets as sold out in 10 seconds only to resell them at 900 bux for a floor seat. if he really cared about fans and people who cant afford 900 bux to see an hour and a half of live music, then he should speak up,.
just google this stuff so i dont have to explain it to you. or go to the facebook page radiohead fans against scalper. there are lots of links there. dont defend them cuz you are a fan. i am too. a pissed off fan who cant afford $900 (american) to go see them play.
@zedosix (cont3) I'm one of the lucky ones, I have a home and I save a bit and I enjoy my outdoor activities that I love, but there is no way I could pay my mortgage and have kids. The system has failed when productivity has gone astronomically high and real incomes have declined. Our lifestyles are based on debt, because it has been engineered by the banks to be that way. Just because they haven't crushed you yet doesn't mean their trajectory does not have you in the crosshairs down the road.
@wootwootbreh Of course the first world will suffer in the short term. However, the alternative has now twice been proven to unsustainable in the long term.
@HocicoVulpes To be cynical, or rather realistic, your right. However as soon as you say your against capitalism your labelled as a 'communist' or hippy left winger. The ideals of capitalism are questionable whether they were moral, but some parts were, like the idea of a free market, others were clearly not. The corruption needs to be taken out, just like in government. I think we essentially agree different methods! All the best.
@zedosix (cont...) Good luck having any quality of life if everyone was just trying to sell a useless product. This movement is about the declining value and availabilty of money due to theft by the system. Why is it that thirty years ago a man could raise a family with his wife at home and pay for a house and buy everything else with cash and get a pension at the end. Even regular folks could do that.
economic theory from these two? dont quit your day jobs, fellas. until they cut me a check for half of what theyre worth, everything they say is meaningless.
