I really appreciated your short video on the myths of BPD. When I was diagnosed, there was a huge stigma, both in and out of the psychiatric community. It's nice to know I'm not inherently a "garbage person" (direct quote from a psychiatrist. Much respect and best regards. Kudos!
My first thought was when i first saw and heard you is you speak like and kinda look like Tom Ellis and i can't get over is :D I think your content is really helpful and you're a really nice person and you describe things really good it's easy to follow and understand. As a psychology student i'm really happy i found you (and i'm grateful to Cinema Therapy for it) :)
Your videos always exude so much kindness and empathy, which is very needed in the mental health community. I can see the passion for your work in your glowing eyes. Just a note for folks, compulsions don’t always align with your obsessions. For example, I had a theme once that involved sexuality, and the compulsion my brain chose was to tap out a rhythmic pattern at increasing speeds, and then when that wasn’t relieving enough, I mouthed a little rhyme I made up. Also, compulsions aren’t always physical. For example, in middle school, I had an obsession about causing my own death and my obsession was that if I didn’t constantly think about death (even just the word) that I would die. It was all consuming but completely internal (called rumination) making it very hard for my support network to know that I needed their support. Keep up the amazing work!
What I really appreciate is the way you think your way around these Q&As and you don't just fall back on easy answers. Also you are extremely human. I've always had a big crush on Adam Buxton!

As it would seem with many of your subscribers, I also suffer from BPD fostered by an unhealthy religious upbringing that severely stifled exploration of sexuality. Thank you for being out there with content like this, helping to destigmatize mental health care!
I hope this can bring someone hope! I was diagnosed with BPD, but I went through a year of exstensive therapy (DBT) and no longer met the criteria afterwards. It's approx 8 years since the therapy and I haven't had the same issues again. 💙

In my experience with substance abuse, and being clean for 2.5 years alcohol & Benzodiazepines. As an atheist whenever the concept op "a higher power" was brought out, it was made clear this could be interpreted in several different ways, and not by definition something "devine".
Can you talk about ECT? I was given this treatment a little over a year ago and had terrible problems with memory loss because of it. I didn't really find that it was helpful, but it was presented as a sort of last resort treatment for my BPD, Depression, and chronic suicidality because none of the medications they tried were working.
I know it is not mental illness but can you do a video on autism/neurodiversity? It was Autism Awareness Day yesterday and especially with the horrific film 'Music' by Sia and its terrible stereotypes of autism and use of restraints it would be good to get a video from you about the subject. if the person who asked about getting help for bpd on the nhs please keep pushing there is alot of bias from mental health proffesionals with bpd and the nhs is bit shit with support for those with bpd but keep going
Could you do a reaction on the scrubs episode when Dr Cox loses three patients and ends uo beconing really deperessed and drinks a lot. I always found that episode hard to watch because he was si brilliant you could feel his pain. It’s my fallen idol season 5 episode 1
I've been mentally ill since I was 10/11, I'm 24, and I sometimes feel like I'll never get better. I have MDD, ASPD, BPD, OCPD, GAD, PTSD, OSFED, and Substance Use Disorder. It never seems to end; any advice on how to keep the hope alive?

I’m from the UK and I’m in college and I struggle interacting with people from my class when we have to for partner work. I’ve tried explaining to my teachers that it makes me so nervous and I start freaking out but they didn’t seem to understand and they put it down as refusal to work with others. Could anyone recommend something I can say that they would understand?

Because you are a gay psychiatrist I would love to be more educated about the LGBTQ+ group and what makes us striaght, gay, pan sexual, lesbian, trans and so on. I would love to know how it all works and comes to be. It's also one of the reasons why I left my church because I'm a caring person and a very supportive person one at that and I couldn't follow my church rules and heart at the same time. I think you your education and being a part of the LGBTQ+ you could teach us and make us all aware and hopefully with that it can end the hate the comes with it because of knowledge and understanding.
Re: BPD - in the US, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is a common school of therapy for personality disorders in general, but is also super helpful for pretty much everyone.
As a trans guy it made me really happy to hear you speaking out against a transphobe ❤️ I also loved the IT Crowd but it’s basically been ruined by Graham Linehan being such a disgusting hateful person.
