How does your OCD trick you? 🤕
@immaisuradze
@immaisuradze Год назад
Well since ive been ignoring thoughts it fought back again, it keeps filling my head with thoughts that i will kill my brother, also thoughts that came up was very wierd, when someone gives me a gift and i appriciate it ocd says that i didnt appriciated enough or i didnt felt anything and says that im a bad and heartless person ×D

And thank you so muchh!! You are a legit life saver
@bornwithoutconsentobviously
I find it very difficult to see any logic or rationality in having sensorimotor/somatic/hyperawareness OCD to be honest. Some people think and say: well everyone breathes, blinks, swallows and all that stuff but that ofcourse doesn’t work long term and actually isn’t really a relief when you think about it. So I guess my OCD trick is trying to find any logic to this and being frustrated with the fact I can’t find any? Or something 🤷🏻‍♀️?

Thank you for these videos. I come to these types of videos when i can't get my OCD to shutup. I let it get really bad and it will jump to different triggers as soon as i start to address it. And it will double up on triggers so I'll have like five different delusions going and i don't even know what to do. At that point I'll start panicking and it helps to have a sensible calming voice of reason. It's like an outside source that agrees with my brain. I know you say not to seek reassurance, but I don't think im doing it compulsively. And i am improving so i know im doing something right. 🥳 Thank you so much.

2:57 so true !! I used to listen to those life and loa coaches saying these kind of things and it really affected me badly, and when I told them about my OCD they had the audacity to say that I must stop my OCD thoughts or it’s going to become true by manifesting them 💀

I love what you do. I have learned so much from your videos but I do have one question. Why don't you have a detailed video on RESPONSE PREVENTION? I have seen countless videos on the Exposure part of ERP but no one really talks about response prevention. I know once we expose ourselves to anxiety, we're supposed to fight off the compulsion urges and rituals that normally follow after we are triggered. But no one has really gone in-depth on how we should respond to a triggered response. What are the correct steps? Do we tell ourselves, "don't think about it"? Do we try and just stop all thoughts? I am sure some of us are getting it wrong because when I first started, I was trying to stop the thought but I know there is a better way of handling it. Once you tell someone to try and resist urges and rituals, some of us will naturally try and stop the thoughts completely. What should we say to ourselves? Do we say anything at all? Do we block or do we sort of deal with compulsions? Help me understand

Nathan, you are an angel in this world, you got rid of my intrusive thoughts almost completely. I have a question is it normal, For example: If someone does a compulsion before bed that person needs to do it every night let's say it lasts 1 month then it goes away but I have to do a different compulsion before bed so it recycles over and over again. Something comes Something Something comes Something goes
@ArturSzczur
@ArturSzczur Год назад
Yup, that's totally normal. Compulsions come and go. Sometimes we don't even know sth is a compulsion and once we rezognise it and finally get rid of it, sth new pops up. Like he says, the best thing I think is not reacting because ocd wants you to react. It's a bully ;)

recently my undiagnosed ROCD was freaking out about this classmates i had because i was scared of my thoughts that said i was attracted to her. i definitely am not. now that i kind of got past that content, it now latched on to lack of excitement for my partner. ocd is crazy and it may have latched to the fact that i was seeing my partner for the first time after years of being together (we met online). i am anxious about meeting my partner but before the anxiety, i was SUPER excited.

My ocd gets worse when I try to defend myself as these intrusive thoughts and false memories go against my morals. But my mind will create false reasons why I might’ve done these things and it pictures me doing these things but I know I haven’t and it drives me crazy. OCD paralyzed me for doing what I’m suppose to do. It attacks everything. My knowledge, beliefs, desires and dreams. It’s so annoying, confusing, depressing and exhausting. OCD has done many things to my life that caused major distress. Whether if I’m doing something so someone wouldn’t die, or if something makes God angry, it’s so convincing and trying to make it real. I’ve cried many nights to sleep and anxiety shot through the roof. It also makes me insecure and makes me think whatever I know or believe is wrong. It’s so exhausting and distressing
