Thank you so much for uploading this, I havent been back there in 8 years, brings back wonderful memories, makes me feel a little less homesick!

My dad took me there in about 1972. It was right before the place went down for the count. I remember it as spectacularly beautiful, wonderful mountains, ocean smells, wonderful friendly people. We flew in from Vancouver on a plane than landed on its belly in the water [Mallard?] - terrific stuff for a 10 year old brat. Thanks for the memories.

Excellent clip! Short enough not to bore yet gave a very good insight into some of the buildings left. Almost all of my trade teachers and work colleagues spent many happy years there! It truly was a fantastic place where many people learned trades, got time in on tickets, started families, cemented friendships, and did some hard partying all the while!

As an young Australian I took off from Melbourne to see something of the world. I fetched up in Ocean Falls and lived in the hotel. I worked as a tradesman in the pipe shop in the Crown Zellerbach mill. I cannot believe the condition of the hotel now, it was my home in 1965-1966; such a shame to see its total ruin. How can man rape a site that has given him so much, a bloody disgrace. I loved the views, the people, the fresh air. I then went to West Irian and worked for Freeport, the copper mine people. They too raped and wrecked a pristine environment. I weep for my planet.

Ahhhhh, good times! I lived above the courthouse ( that terrible orange painted building at 1:40 ) from 1979 - 1980. My Dad was one of two RCMP stationed here at the time. My bedroom was the three windows directly behind the satalite dish. I miss this place soo much and really need to come back here for a visit. :) I also realize that I've been on a bit of an "Ocean Falls" posting kick tonight. I'm ok with that tbh. :)

My Dad lived on his 45 ft sailboat while workin' there. He considered it a special place.

I've been to ocean falls before, We stayed at the courtHouse! I'd also always went to Martin Valley

id so go live there!!peace and quiet and no traffic...and fishing... :)

The vandalism and decay are a horrible shame. And so many people are homeless in the world, while properties like this go to rack and ruin.

Saw a short clip of this on RTM (RightThisMinute) so I had to check it out.

Is it possible to get more volume on this? At the highest setting I can't hear it well and I've watched other youtube videos without this problem. Thanks if you can.

i visit the town in 2005,,,that must been a beautiful town in the hay days,,,i saw it on pictures before i visit and there was so many house empty in ruin and the big hotel what a shame,,they call it the progress of men..Butedale Lou

Thanks for sharing this (that hotel looks pretty run-down)... it's too bad to see this once thriving community fall through the cracks of economic hardship :(

All I can think of is all the asbestos that is laying around in that town - especially in the old apartment building.

Why were so many houses in the town demolished?

if there was ever a Zombie apocalypse this is where Id go. and ironicky its looks like how id imagine civilization would look after such an event, if i had unlimited funds I would turn it into a eco village clean it up, free hydro power for life! only down side it rains 90% of the time and its so isolated
