@@neethadesilva5747 and the sea will again play with those other lads but deep down inside will miss these lads. The sea will be really missing them 😭😭. The sea will cry rivers of tears
Nostalgia! grew up near the beach. Built walls, dams, and pretend hydro schemes between high tides. Losing them to the waves was one of the best bits and the inevitable soaking you got from that rogue wave. Great times. good effort guys (from a self claimed expert).
We had a cottage on a lake that we would spend our summers at, and I did the same thing, just had to haul buckets of water up to it haha. But we'd make a river bed at the top of the beach going to the dam
Same, and after seeing this video I really want to go to the beach and build a damn and sit behind it for as long as possible for the tide to come in. I need to borrow some kids so I don't look weird.
This is brilliant. I'm 60 this year and it reminds me of my youth. Fantastic family holidays in Anglesey and North Wales doing exactly the same. Memories that will never fade. Beech holidays like this are the best.
Same here. My beach thing was to dig holes with a metal coffee can. I would dig until I hit water. Down in the hole I was out of the wind, and it was quiet. Perfect way to have my own space away from my 5 siblings. LOL
When I was young, I loved building sandcastles and seeing how long I could get them to survive! No matter the materials out how intricate the defences were, the sea always won!
I used to love pretending each minute was actually like hundreds of years for my little kingdom and that the waves were like periods of great flooding lol, wild what the imagination can do when you're young
Using something the ocean created to stop the ocean, very cool, it was also fun to see how the waves keep dropping off sand to build up a ramp to get over.
California holds almost 20 percent of the country’s wealth. Our state GDP is more than Texas and Florida combined. I’m sure that the flyover state where you reside got a shitload of our tax dollars. Pretty impressive for something that doesn’t exist. I don’t understand why the right is so vested in convincing the base that Americans should be enemies. What the hell do you get out of it?
@@Ajokeiguess I THINK THAT HE IS TRYING TO SAY... YOU HAVE TO BUILD A DAM ON THE BEACH, TO HOLD THE MONEY, "THE SAND" BEHIND THE DAM, IN CALIFORNIA, TO STOP THE SEA, "OTHER STATES", FROM STEALING THE MONEY, "THE SAND"... THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
God, I HATE people who talk in meaningless slogans. "Kids learn respect from the habits of the sea"? What the hell does it even mean? If kids play on the beach, they will learn respect? 90% of the mankind live by the sea. Not much respect learned.
The ocean methodically probed the fortress walls looking for weak points. After a couple small successful attacks, it unleashed it’s fury, to reclaim what was rightfully its own.
My sister and l used to build a sand boat facing the sea and sit in it as the tide came in around us. These are fun memories, made before mobile phones were around, l'm 59 now.
My Liverpudlian Dad used to do this with us at the Gold and Sunshine Coasts in Australia in the 1970s. I tried doing the same with my kids but I only had 2, Dad had 5 helpers. lol
When we 90s kids and older say 'Just living in the moment, no phone in sight', this is what we mean. And many of us didn't even capture them in videos like this. I suppose it was more of an American thing. Also, early RU-vid had a lot of these nice home made videos. The nostalgia I'm feeling here is wild.
Love genuine videos like this. This is like the original RU-vid, not way too long videos with lots of padding and exaggerated energy, DON'T FORGET TO LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE!, and general fakeness. Just kids filming themselves having fun.
Reminds me of a holiday in 1988 on the Med, near Elne. The River Tech formed an estuarine lake sometimes (it constantly shifted year by year) and in August there was quite a decent sized lake held back by the tiniest of sand bars. the kids were set to work, soon joined by German, French, Dutch kids, all of whom got the message in the way kids do. After some judicious digging, nature took over, the held back waters carved out their own channel and within minutes there was a full scale dam buster type escape. the kids (and more than a few adults) revelled in it - floating through at warp speed 1 into the Med and out for 50 metres or so before scrambling ashore for another go. A magical moment. the lake dropped a good 3 feet that day, but hey - it had been changing shape and capacity for centuries, we just gave it a helping hand. i googled it recently - completely different and far narrower. Still good for a day's fun though. here's a thing. just a few miles south is a similar, almost identical river system over the border in Spain. On the French side, upstream, the river is dammed periodically and the flow diverted to right and left on alternate days to water peaches and other small farms. In Spain, nothing. Their river dries up during the summer. During the winter it clearly flows asa torrent, hurtling stones and carving new channels all the time. Almost identical sized rivers. what does that tell you/
i dont know man,but i enjoyed your story :D german 10 boy from spain beach in 07, maybe it tells me that humans can change if the water flows, but not the river size, idk man, feels like a test xP
I loved doing this type of thing as a kid! One year there was a large amount of seaweed that was washed onto shore. I realized that if I layered the seaweed and sand together, it could withstand the erosion of the waves. I remember being so proud to have a structure survive through high tide. 🙂
Like so many other comments, I thoroughly enjoyed that. Seeing kids outdoors enjoying nature instead of sitting in front of a Video game/computer screen is heartwarming (and so last century lol) u guys will hopefully look back at this an smile, like it did me.
until recently, I liked to play computer games, I spent a lot of time on it, but now after 2 internships at the factory, I want to go to the factory, because there I have someone to talk to, even though they are older pensioners, I am constantly busy there + and I get paid for the pleasure of this job, although I admit that there are many adults who also like to play world of tanks on PC
@@kayne49 Well Kayne, everybody's circumstances/locations are different, and I also spent several years in the "Eat, Game, Sleep, Repeat" mode! UNTIL I developed a blood clot on my leg! (I was a racing gamer, wheel, rig set up, the lot) I haven't raced since! too much of ANYTHING is bad for us my friend! look after yourself matey 👍👍
My friend and I recently dug, by hand, a trench between a beach on Lake Superior and a nearby creek. We were sore for a few days after but we finished it right before sunset and united the two bodies of water. It was really neat.
I was totally invested in their work and fun! Enjoyed every minute and whoever picked out the soundtrack did a great job as well! Now i can get up from the table and do the dinner dishes, but tomorrow? To the beach, baby, to the beach!
Spent so many days on the beach with friends building sand walls and castles with the intent of fighting off the tides as long as possible. We knew failure was inevitable, but we got better every time and it was so much fun. What great memories.
This looks like a total blast. It does my weary heart good to know that while some things are ever changing.....kids playing by the sea does not. As long as kids, sand, and the ocean exist, this tradition won't ever die.
I used to dig these teardrop shaped dams where the inside was dug out and the thickest part was toward the ocean and the point towards land, with my son. We would also eventually allow water to flood the inside creating a pool by creating channels directing the waves around the dam and to the top before running in. We occasionally used big rocks to shore up the dam as well. It was a frantic and mad struggle to keep the dam standing. My advice is to use spade shovels. They're much easier in the sand.
This was a BEAUTIFUL beach. It also looked like a lot of fun, but hard work at the beginning…the music was also nice & relaxing. Was nice to see your family enjoying themselves doing something fun…thank you for sharing this moment with us 🙂
Sand castles were also fun to build and then watch the tide come in and smooth everything out again. Nothing feels better than cool sand beneath the feet and between the toes or stand in the shallows and have your feet slowly buried by the waves moving the sand.
Construction of Dam 3/10 Level of Good Fun 10/10 And I do believe we've all had that moment in time where we've looked away for just one second then next thing you know the wave is in your face and you've got to keep your soggy pants on in the car ride home because you didn't think to bring a spare pair to a spontaneous trip to the seaside 🤭🤭🤭😆😆😆 Good on ye lads ...!!! Twas a charming video.
Great video thanks. It reminds me of the fun we had with our children at the beach. Even on winter days, when we definitely were NOT going swimming, they ended up with soaked clothes.
I have dedicated nearly two decades of my life to studying oceanography, which has been an incredibly fulfilling and enriching journey. Over the years, I have gained profound knowledge and practical experience in understanding the complexities of the ocean and its vital role in our planet's ecosystem. It has been a privilege to contribute to the field, and I look forward to many more years of exploration and discovery. And based on this vast experience I can say that the water just wrecked that puny little dam. Get got.
Fue hermoso ver a esos niños divirtiéndose sanamente. Fue muy agradable, me recordó mi infancia. Actualmente la mayoría de los niños casi no ven el mundo exterior y solo conocen la diversión que les puede dar una consola de videojuegos.
Nice, as a young boy our garden went down to the Indian ocean and i do so love to play there. Growing up on the edge of a sugar estate in Africa enjoying all the surrounds had to offer was heavenly.
My favourite parts are with the seagull in the background. “Welp, I don’t have anything else to do with my day, what are these hooomans doing? Oh shoot they just threw something what was that?! Dang it. Nothing”
Not at all what I thought. Especially with the music building up such anticipation I thought it would be a little more exciting. However, mother nature is beautiful to watch any time. Thank you for sharing. 😊
Bermain di luar akan berdampak bagus pada perkembangan jiwa andk-anak . Mereka menjadi sehat , cerdas , empati dan mencintai alam Salam dari Indonesia .
I loved doing this as a kid, always knowing you were going to loose. I wonder though, were there no rocks around you could carpet the front section of the dam with?
I thoroughly enjoyed that! I'm 76 and it was a lot of fun to see young people just having fun like we did in the 50s. We'd leave home in the mornings during the summer and all our mom would say was to be sure to be home by dinner. Hard to imagine that today.
The video was uploaded in 2022 but I’m guessing is from around 2009 judging by the quality. Amazing how 14 years later this isn’t possible because you’d get stabbed to death waiting for the train to get you to the beach 🎉
All kids including myself love to engage in such activity. Inland it is usually damming up a small stream to build a pool. All harmless fun until you arrive home with wet clothes and trousers full of sand and a none to pleased mother.
For me it was Hampstead Heath in London - the wild bits - or the ponds; in those days kids went off for the day with instructions to 'be home by' and the rest of the day was ours - feeding the deer in the little zoo, making 'dens' in secret places in the trees, exploring for acorns or horse chestnuts in season, 'fishing' in the ponds or paddling.. Arriving home totally exhausted - generally just a tad late! That is just how childhood should be, and now I fear too many kids are driven by car to pre-arranged activities & never experience the freedoms of a 'wild' childhood!
Please don’t. A solid barrier will cause even more erosion elsewhere and will not provide long term protection of the coastline. Here in Hawaii, we have wealthy newcomers who buy homes on the beach and build barriers like this illegally. Once they are found out, they are heavily fined and forced to remove them at their own expense. And the public excoriates them for it. How not to make friends in Hawaii.
When I was in college, during one winter storm, we built a snow barrier in front of the entrance to the library. We were all wasted. We left around 1 or 2 in the morning. When we got up to look a few hours later, it was gone. Custodian had gotten a little tractor and knocked it down in a few minutes.
I don’t know why we do it making sand dams or digging holes but when I get on sand my mind goes like “I could make the biggest tunnel system with this”
Something about the inevitability of the tide coming in.... and children growing to be adults.... cannot be stopped..... enjoy every second as it happens....
Before watching this video, I played “ kick ball “, keep away & told stories to my three grandkids visiting . Never a waste of time . Always trying to relive my youth thru them.
I see. Get almost one day. Is it only dog k9, good outsiders, or both? It's really good now.👍 The system clean, function so well. Thank you, guys. GBU.😊
The ocean has the power to dissolve stone. Maybe these kids didn’t know that before they spent their day building a dam made of sand. Entertaining nonetheless. 👍😁
