Simon Springett, UN Resident Coordinator (RC) for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, participates virtually in a Briefing on the Humanitarian Situation from Hurricane Beryl, hosted by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), 19 July 2024.
Over 80,000 people were potentially affected by #HurricaneBeryl across Grenada and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, including more than 44,000 in Grenada, and 40,000 people in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, based on the number of people hit by wind speeds of 120 km/h or above, according to the Pacific Disaster Center (PDC Global). The number of people in need of humanitarian assistance is estimated to be nearly 60,000 people.
