Heart disease is one of the world’s leading causes of death across the world and in Florida. It's proven that CPR can save lives, and hands-only CPR performed by a bystander has been shown to be as effective as conventional CPR (with mouth-to-mouth breaths) in the first few minutes of sudden cardiac arrest. Today, area fire departments are conducting trainings at 23 high school sites including all traditional high schools, 9th-grade centers and two academies. The goal is to train a minimum of 20,000 high school students on hands-only CPR today, so they can be ready to save a life starting tomorrow.
Thank you to the Orlando Fire Department, Orange County Fire Rescue, American Heart Association - Greater Orlando, and all of our partners making this happen today!
