Brief review of Ocracoke Campground located at the South end of Cape Hatteras National Seashore, on Ocracoke Island. Definitely the most relaxed, peaceful, and laid back experience on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
Thanks for the review. My wife and I are planning on taking our kids there this year. From what you saw, how are the tent sites? Also, about the beach - how secluded is it? Much traffic?
All the sites there are tent or RV. The ones nearest the beach side are the best. And also have the least traffic noise. We didn't have much noise but we were late in the season. The beach was the best one we found on the Outer Banks. The most secluded.
No restrictions that I know of. We took the ferry with our 40-foot motorhome plus tow. The cost from Hatteras to Ocracoke is FREE! You can come back the same way (for FREE) or you can take a paid ferry from there to Cedar Island.
