It's Game 4 of the National League Championship Series in St. Louis before a sellout crowd of 46,600 at Busch Stadium. The Mets being down 2 games to 1, hand the ball to Oliver Perez while the Cardinals give 24-year old starter Anthony Reyes the nod.
Perez goes 5 and 2/3 innings giving up 5 earned while striking out 3 and giving up 3 solo homeruns. The bullpen looks strong as they go 3 and 1/3 only giving up two hits.
The Mets are led offensively by Carlos Delgado plates 5 with two clutch hits including a 3-run homer. Carlos Beltran, adds 2 solo homeruns in going 3-for-4. David Wright also goes deep as the Mets put together 9 runs during the 5th and 6th innings as the Mets tie the series at two games a piece..

4-49 with RISP for the Cardinals pitchers is next level dominance WTF.

I remember how me and other Mets fans thought that with the way the Mets won this game 4, with their offense being stellar and their bullpen being great, that the Mets were now gonna win games 5 and 6. But ohhhh man, their offense once again got shut-down in game 5 and 7. I remember being so angry with the way the Mets performed and got spanked in game 3 by Suppan, that I was glued to my TV on this game 4, cheering and screaming every second. After this game, Randolph had more confidence in Oliver pitching game 7 on 3-days-rest than he did on Steve Trachsel pitching game 7 on full rest. I liked Trachsel, I think he was an underrated pitcher and a big game pitcher, but he had nothing in 2006.

Oli always felt like a starting pitcher version of Benitez to me. Total rollercoaster, bit of a head case but the stuff was there at times.

3:05 Look at that stat = After the first 3 games, Mets batting average as a team was .196 , OUCH . What ticked me off is that the Mets offense was getting shut down by Weaver and Suppan. It wasnt even Carpenter shutting them down, whom the Mets spanked in games 2 and 6

Lets all take a moment and thank whomever was responsible for eliminating Joseph Buck from the playoffs. Haven't heard a commentator sound more deflated broadcasting a national playoff game since... you guessed it- Joseph Buck and the Rick Ankiel game.

I used to like fox baseball when your teammates will do the starting lineup and make fun of you now it’s just a regular lineup
