Yes, 99% of all people think that he made his money (in the 70s) only with Weider advertise. There were less price money that time, i heard that he gots 2000 $ for all his wins. He was the first promoter who gave the athletes good money for the places. Bec Arnold had a business education and good school in Austria he knows about business and money and renovates buildings and sell them with profit, and at his BB career he and Franco worked in real jobs, too. Franco became a Doctor of Chiropractic later, not as bad for a Boy from sardinia and former factory worker in germany.
Did he have lots? I just read his Be Useful book, only thing I recall he mentioned is the apartment block he purchased so he had some passive income without having to worry about paying rent.
People always imply he’s dumb. He’s actually incredibly smart. To be that focussed and self aware of the mind’s power at a young age is extraordinary. He fascinates me.
I've heard people totally dislike him, say he's up himself etc etc etc... but I have never heard or seen anyone say or write that they thought he was dumb.
"If you find bodybuilding a funny thing for a grown up, intelligent man to be doing, well so does Arnold. And he's laughing with you, all the way to the bank". Love it.
Never agreed with his political positions and the fact that he did not treat his wife well but you can't take away the fact that this guy is the epitome of the American dream. Most of us will not accomplish in 10 lifetimes even 1/10th of what he has in his life. A true legend.....................
@Al Person Not mutually exclusive. You left out the genocide of Native Americans. and the subjugation of women... It's ok though- just because you didn't feel the need to include those little factoids doesn't mean you're racist or sexist. Peace.
@@lta4714 I think Arnold mentioned that people were laughing at him because he was a bodybuilder, modern bodybuilding considered as a real competition.
Arnold is truely the definition of the american dream. I never agreed with his political views or him getting into politics or even how he treated his ex wife. But all that aside hes the living example of what your dreams will become as long as you dont give up. What a career.!!!
0:49 “I feel that you can have the best product in the world, but If you don't know how to sell it,If you don't have any body who can sell it for you, tell the public,it's a waste of time the whole thing.” ― Arnold Schwarzenegger
From 2:16 - 2:20 what with the other guy in front of Arnold who was having an Indian Hindi language word written " CHAKRA " on his shirt chakra means revolving thing what does that mean him to wear that shirt , what does that shows .........
@@NorbiGaming Hungary was ruled by the House of Habsburg a Austrian Royal Family, and that was only for a very short time 1867-1915 thats it. And Arnold has Zero relatives from Hungary.
@@IronWarrior86 especially not austrians, its realy in the center of Europe, 2 hours to the south youre in italay, to southwest a bit youre in Yugoslavia and so on, so by its nature its hard to say what an austrian genetically is i guess.. That might be the reason they don't want to get called germans but actually i have no idea... Just some thoughts 🤔
@@cdana2809 His relatives going back generations were likely residents of the Austro-Hungarian empire (which included today's Czech republic), as such they were probably of mixed heritage. Interestingly there are also a number of Hungarian bodybuilders with similar facial features as Arnold.
Its pretty interesting how "average" of a builder he looks off cycle. He loved the sport and obviously didn't care enough to stay in top competitive shape all the time. In fact getting into the movies which is what his new focus was, many producers were telling him he was too big and would be type cast/limiting, not to mention his added disadvantage of not speaking English has his first language. But anyway, back to the point of how much smaller and less developed he looks just two years after his 75 Olympia win. I can only suspect he was still working out but totally off cycle. Looks like he lost about 20lb of muscle and added 10lb of fat. Yet people still wanted him to take off his shirt, do exhibitions etc. Id think he would want to maintain a little better for such occasions. He obviously got pumped up for many of his movie roles later. But that literally could have been just lifting between takes for an actual pump, rather then being on cycle. It wouldn't surprise me if he did get on the juice for some of his roles like Conan though just to bounce back from taking a back seat for a while.
His not at his full bodybuilding size here.. You can see He's nowhere near as big as he was when he was in pumping Iron with Lou Ferrigno and all those guys
He gave up steroids when he retired in 75'. He took them again for the 1980 Olympia but he wanted to go back down to under 210 pounds again for movie roles.
Arnold is the personification of the post-WW2 American Empire. Arnold's transition from BB to acting, then to politics and then to a retired goofball grandpa, mirrors the US' transition from manufacturing to services/outsourcing, then tech/finance, and then a joke on the international stage headed by the likes of Trump and Biden. The US as it's been known for the past 50 years will die with Arnold.
Since when is Arnold Austro-Hungarian??? 😅😅😅 Austria and Hungary where two kingdoms joined into the Austro-Hungarian Empire for a while. Buit that doesn't make Arnold hungarian, WTF? His is Austrian German.
Austrian-Hungarian Muscle??? Austrian-Hungaria ended at the end of WW1...I dont think that Arnold was born before WW1. And: The most important people in Arnolds Career were Joe Weider for Bodybuilding And his personal great friend Lucille Ball who brang him into the TV and Showbusiness Later his contacts to the politics grounded on the Kennedy family, from his wife. No Weider (US worldwide BB business): A few time BB Champion and maybe gym owner in Austria No Lucille Ball: An unknown Sportler in a sport the US are not interested in (No Basketball, Football or Baseball) No Maria Shriver: An ordinary Actor like many others, not involved in politics
Only thirty years of age, immigrant in USA, English is not his mother tongue, worst acting skills and vocals, acted in 3 films already and wrote a book. Seems hardwork, smartness, skills alone are not enough - a person need confidence and a level head to be on his own at such a young age. Fun Fact: Just a few days before this interview Muhammad Ali defended his heavy weight title against Earnie Shavers and still the reigning world boxing champion.
