I would love to get my hands on them! From what I’ve seen, they are smaller varieties, but I only saw a couple in person. I’m always open to learning more, and I know proven winners are always pushing the boundaries and putting out some amazing plants. If I find any this year I will grow a few in our landscape and see how they respond, but the couple I saw in person were beautiful. 😍
Wow now! I didn’t think of this! If we do end up having to keep it if nothing else works this might just be the perfect solution, as that area gets super wet and succulents wouldn’t tolerate it very well, that was my first thought. Have you grown pitcher plants, if so, how are they?
@@InTheGardenWithClaudia never have grown them, but they’re one of those things that I constantly look for a way to be able to. Good luck if you try to grow them
Your garden is gorgeous and you can see you put a lot of work into keeping it neat and tidy. I'm jealous of your clean edging. You must be the envy of your neighborhood. Lucky them. I'm with you on the annuals. If I may suggest I would stick to a certain color combination and repeat the same plants but dotted throughout. Also I would keep the concrete bowl and turn it into a small water feature. It's great for attracting frogs and toads and they'll help keep those cucumber beetles off your dahlias
Aww thank you so much!! It is work to keep it up but we enjoy it. From time to time we will edge our neighbors grass too since most of them aren't able to. And you're right,I do need to add more repeating colors and plants to make it more cohesive, thank you for that input, I am AWAYS open to your guys suggestions. 💞 I didn't thinks about attacking the frogs, but that's actually a really great idea. I have another smaller feature I have my eyes on, but if it doesn't happen then that may be an alternative solution. 🥰
@@InTheGardenWithClaudia I think whatever you decide it will be beautiful. The last couple of years I have loved the look that comes from watching the Chelsea flower show displays. Very cohesive colors and repeat of the same plants throughout really makes a statement. What’s great about using annuals is you can change it every year and never get bored. I’m a bit spoiled as growing is our business but you could do cuttings early and get a head start. Homeowners don’t have patent infringements on them like we do.
I too, cannot remove flowers that continue to still provide food for the bumblebees that still visit them in our unusually balmy weather (zone 5) at this time of year ! Your gardens are gorgeous and I love how you share the successful and ‘not so good’ plants ! 🥰🌸🇨🇦
Thank you Eileen. I just keep reminding myself they rely on us, so I have to be good to them like they are good to me and our garden, I always have them in mind when I garden. Have you guys had your frost?
Love, love, love your style and thought behind it all! You’re pretty amazing! (I just picked up a Silver Fir to fill in a vertical spot where I needed a dense green weighty-ness, is that a word?) It won’t get to its full potential here like it would in the NW. it’s green with a blue undertone, has a needle like a yew which I am not a fan of yews but I love this so much! My Birthday/Christmas gift from me to me! 🌲😄 I’m looking forward to your backyard next!
Lol it absolutely is a word in the garden world! 😆 That sounds amazing, I was going to say that tree will be beautiful, especially because it seems like it won't get too large in your area, I love a good blue undertone on evergreens! 😄 Happy early birthday to you then, maybe one tree for birthday but one more for Christmas, lol. 🥰
I wish I could give you my boxwoods 😂 there’s a whole row of them right in the best part of my new yard for gardening, so I’m digging them out and running out of places to transplant them. Loved this video!! Can’t wait to hear your plans for next year 😎
lol this is why we need more neighbors that love gardening and trading plants. 😆 On another note, how have boxwoods been for you? Low maintenance? Any worry of blight?
@@InTheGardenWithClaudia Wildly low maintenance, especially if you don’t mind the natural bushy look. They didn’t even mind our incredibly dry and hot summer (I’m in NY). No blight issues whatsoever!
Your garden is looking magical Claudia. If you don’t love the fountain base then give yourself permission to get rid of it. If it is still in one piece then could you try advertising it? Someone might want it to replace a broken one or to create a succulent bowl or something with it. If not then you could try putting a couple of holes in it with a heavy duty masonry drill bit and taking a sledgehammer to it if it doesn’t break with the sledgehammer alone (although it should). I took a drill and sledgehammer to a number of concrete pieces, both flat and solid blocks, this summer that like you I’d been holding onto from previous garden but didn’t love and within 30 minutes they were gone it was freeing for my garden. I laid 2 lengths of wood on the ground, put the large flat piece of concrete across them and whacked it with the sledgehammer a couple of times in the middle. Took the drill, sledgehammer and masonry bolster to a solid block of concrete to break that up.
Oh my gosh Heather, this is so incredibly helpful! Thank you so much. You’re right I should maybe put it somewhere like offer up? I thought about a succulent garden but it collects so much water and trying to drill several holes in it to make it work just is t worth it. If no one takes it, I’m going to try your technique. 💗💗
@@InTheGardenWithClaudia See if your local garden centre has a message board or online presence or your local reclamation or antiques yard would be a good place to try also.
Claudia, I really enjoy your channel! I love seeing the progress of your garden. One little piece of feedback, as someone who deals with motion sickness it’s difficult to enjoy some of the videos when there is that “fish bowl” effect. Maybe it’s an attempt to have a wider viewpoint, which totally makes sense. Maybe I’m in the minority but just thought I’d share 💖
Ooh Emily I always love the feed back. I don’t have it in fish bowl mode, do you notice it in slower clips? I have played with the settings but it’s a wide lens camera I am using. Maybe I need to move slower?
