I don't care what anyone says THE HARSEST JOB YOU'LL EVER HAVE IS BEING A PARENT WHO RUNS THE HOUSEHOLD. It's a 24/7 day job with NO vacation days and they NEVER complain. May God keep blessing you and your family.

I am a widow living alone, 78 yo. 5 years ago I was spending $100 a month for just groceries for me. It is now $200 a month with very little red meat. I buy the larger pkg of meat and repackage and freeze in single servings. I usually get 4 meals from a pkg of ground beef, 2 two suppers of hamburger sandwich and with the remaining 1/2 lb I make spaghetti or some other hamburger based meals. I am very frugal have had to be all my life. But prices are going up so quickly. I only eat twice a day. Can't figure out a cheaper way except to give up eating, I am not ready to go that way.

Do you have access to a food pantry? If you're in the US, you can dial 211 in most areas. At that number, you can ask about what resources you qualify for. Food Share is another organization I think you can get fresh produce from. There are also Lutheran Social Services and Catholic Social Services. Don't think if it as charity. You have worked hard your whole life. Take care.

I’m in East Tn and barely was missed by the hurricane. When I say barely I mean within 100 miles of me. The devastation is unbelievable. We’ve never seen anything like this. It was technically a tropical depression when it hit but it got stuck between the Cumberland mountains and the Appalachian mountains and THAT is what caused the devastation. My husband works for an environmental cleanup company and he will likely be all over the place doing what has to be done. He’s already been doing some river clean and the hurricane damage in Florida that part of his crew is already dispatched at.

Speaking of cottage cheese, when my mother makes Lasagna--she uses Cottage Cheese in Ricotta. It turns out really good. The cottage cheese melts very nicely too.

A tortilla suggestion until you find a recipe that you love: buy the uncooked ones from costco! They are organic, and once you try them, you won't go back to the ones you currently buy.

Enjoyed your grocery haul. I love those baby bell cheese also but so expensive. You are a great shopper for your family. My mom would always make a lot from scratch & we loved it. To this day I won't eat anyone else's Italian meals except if it's made by 1 of my sisters because I know it'll taste like hers. Loved the video!

Bless your heart for making this video in the middle of all the wedding chaos❤I think it’s more than enough that you actually planned and executed your monthly grocery haul at all! I have to say though, I had to take a lot of deep breaths watching this because I don’t think I’ve ever heard anybody talk as fast or stress me out for them as much as you did in this video. I hope you’ve been able to calm down since this. Stress is hard on the mind and body and management is as important as healthy eating and exercise. I wonder with the big move coming up and all that entails, if maybe some deep breathing, meditation or yoga could be helpful??

Do you have a meat grinder (grinder attachment)? My mom made her own pork sausage very easily with one of the old hand crank metal grinders that clamped onto edge of the counter/table. She would also use it to grind the ham to make stuffed cabbage rolls.

You got me hooked on those darn Chomps! I used to buy another brand, but they are so much more expensive, and I can’t justify buying them anymore. I tried these, and they are a little higher in calories, they’re bigger, and I think every bit as good, or better. The protein count is the same I think, and they’re equally as clean in their ingredients. I’m glad I took your recommendation!

Love you Sarah, and your hauls & tips, but Im curious, and only if your willing to share, what your feed budget for the animals is? I know from a small holding, no matter how much we try to feed the chickens & pigs with scraps, and cats & dogs from beast kill parts (also my husband hunts & fishes) and we have a huge garden & orchard, that is an enormous expense for us. Also even calf milk powder when we take them off the cow to gather her milk, till we sell the babies. Controversial I know, but thats Homesteading.

When considering Dairy. Whole milk is always the best option - especially if not A2 or Raw (obviously raw is best). A2 is fantastic. We have Braum’s stores and get A2 milk to make yogurt.
