It's a bit like I ended up in the place where my pictures were.
I got to spend some time on the Pokljuka Plain in Triglav National Park in Slovenia. Somehow I'm always drawn to lonely places. It's so lonely here that we have no internet, no cell phone reception, no television and no radio. The next town is 10 kilometers away, down the mountain. It's a hut straight out of a fairy tale.
The house is on the fifth stage of the Juliana Trail, a long-distance hiking trail through the Julian Alps.
The evenings are getting cooler and we heat up the oven. And even though we live so remote, the nights are pitch black and we hear the bears and deer calling at night, it's actually not scary. Actually… because one night there was a sudden knock on our door…
Slovenia inspires me in so many different ways. Just like the Scandinavian countries. I like the originality, the naturalness, the retro designs and patterns, the color combinations. I could photograph, paint and capture anything.
I hope the video brings you some peace during this time. They still exist, the untouched, fairytale-like places that give you so much. I am more than grateful that I was able to spend time on Pokljuka Plain. A very special place. And maybe the rustic wooden house will see me again someday. I would definitely like it.
