Addie Larue is also one of my most anticipated books of the year, can't wait to read it! 😍 I can also recommend the audiobook for The Year of the Witching, the narrator is great!
I've always enjoyed Jennifer L Armentrout books for their angst, lusty romances, and quick moving plots. "From Blood and Ash" is just as fun a read, but with a major step up in complexity of characters, plot, and world building. Definitely read book two , "Kingdom of Flesh and Fire". It expands the world even more and explores character development in a much more effective manner than in many of Armentrout's other series.
I loved The Invisible Life of Addie Larue. The tone reminded me a bit of Erin Morgenstern’s The Night Circus and Sea of Stars. I really enjoyed the slow paced, character driven story and lyrical tone.
Your top is so autumnal and gorgeous! You definitely made Gideon the Ninth sound super intriguing. I wasn't planning on picking it up, but now I might have to!
Hi Regan! I really appreciated you mentioning the trigger warning for the year of the witching, and I would love it if you could do that in your future reviews. I find it very helpful, and other people might too! 🍁💕
From Blood and Ash! Read this and the second book both in October. Devoured them! The second one is even better than the first! Thanks for your delightful reviews. amy
For October I read: Blood & Honey (Serpent & Dove #2), The 7 Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, Muse of Nightmares, The Year of the Witching, and the Strange Case of the Alchemist's Daughter. :)
Omg that's so amazing. There was ONE time I hit a number like that - right after I took the exams to get into college, because I was finally free to read whatever I wanted after an entire year of studying :)
@@brunatonella it definitely isn't the norm for me, especially since I read mostly fantasy! Before this the most I'd ever read was 15 books in one month. Not sure I'll reach this number again haha
I'm SO happy you liked Gideon the Ninth!! 💜💜 I had the same experience: I love Gideon, all the characters and dialogues, but I feel like I had to reread the description parts many times, and the worldbuilding was very, very confusing to me (At least it gets better on the second book)
Sending you love from Germany ❤ We're in the second lockdown now but at least I have time to read all the books I want :) I wish you all a great Sunday and I wanna recommend you some cool chill out music for your weekend: Amilea - The Rules This song always cheers me up so I hope you'll enjoy it too :)
Just started reading from blood and ash and the invisible life of addie larue. Enjoying both of them. Thankyou Reagan, after watching your blogs on you reading them you have interested me in starting them myself and I am very glad for it
I loved The Bone Shard Daughter and hope you do too. I was very impressed by The Year of the Witching, especially as a debut novel. I just started The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet.
I've been reading The Rise of Kyoshi by F.C. Yee with Avatar Co-Creator Michael Dante Dimartino and it is SOOOOOOOOOOO good! You get to see how Avatar Kyoshi became to be and her story and it's just amazing 10/10 would recommend for anyone who is a fan of Avatar the Last Airbender series
I love your look in this video so much!🧡 These books sound awesome!! I especially want to read Middlegame after hearing you talk about it and The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue! I also need to read Rebecca Roanhorse’s works!
Hey Regan if you are looking for more by Thomas King I highly recommend Green Grass, Running Water. It is beautifully written and it's probably my favourite book this year and I read it in October. Also if you are wanting to check out more Indigenous Authors I recommend Eden Robinson, Cherie Dimaline, Katherena Vermette, Alicia Elliot and Michelle Good.
You're making me want to read Trail of Lightning!! It sounds suuuuper up my alley. :D Congrats on reading 7 books in October and smashing your reading goal, that's awesome!
I loved Middlegame as well. It was probably my surprise hit of the month. I tried reading Addie LaRue, but the character of Henry hit a bit too close to home for me
Love your top! Also, I can't wait to read Addie LaRue ✨ My favourite read of October was probably The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, which I've had on my TBR for years, and it was truly magical! However, it was The Subtle Knife by Philip Pullman that got me through isolation, and now I can't wait for the tv series!
I’m actually reading another one of Armentrout’s books, Storm and Fury. When you described Ashes and Blood most of your description sounded REALLY similar to Storm and Fury. No joke. She might have her own story formula if this is how she writes all of her fantasies 😅
Loved Gideon the Ninth. hated Harrow the Ninth. If you think Gideon was tough to keep up with Harrow is going to make you want to tear your hair out. But I look forward to it all coming together in Alecto. Enjoyed the Invisible a life of Addie Larue as well but the ending could’ve stopped a bit earlier. Also, could’ve done without his background and just enjoyed more of her history instead. You definitely made me want to read Middlegame. Hollowpox was really good she git me very exited for the next book already.
For Gideon the Ninth and Harrow the Ninth I think it makes a lot more sense if you listen to it on audio. Bonus the audiobooks are AMAZING Moira Quirk does a fantastic job!
im so glad you liked from blood and ash! one of my new romance fantasy books! i immediately read the second one and it gets sO much better cant wait to hear your thoughts :) i have a reading vlog for both hehe
I’m very intrigued by your Addie Larue thoughts. Made me think I should move it up my TBR. 😊 My current read is actually a reread but no regrets because it’s incredible - Furyborn by Claire Legrand. Third book to the trilogy just came out so you can marathon it all. It’s a dark adult fantasy story so right your alley!
Just read the novella Rolling in the deep by Mira Grant. Going to pick up her full novel into the drowning deep tonight! It has the perfect horror deep sea vibes
