The first time I ever heard the song in the background was the first time I saw this man it's all like I was fighting a final boss cause when that music started playing, I got really scared
Actually first tried this guy with Warrior Throne. Pumped so much evasion into her that she may as well be in sidestep a good chunk of the time. Fortunately, knife happens to be a very common weakness with him no matter how many times he changes.
I beat him with Oswald at level 17, trader with Sidestep (avoid physical attacks), and Hired Help MAX, and 3-4 large soulstones. Spammed Elemental Barrage for shield breaks. I also had the trader skill hang tough, (live at 1HP) and Boost-Start (1 extra BP for extra dodges early) and decent armor from higher level areas. Most attacks would kill in 2-3 hits, some in 1 hit. Don't get hit! Good luck!
Well, I'm curently level 40 for most of my team (I don't really do optional dungeons in this game until I'm at endgame), so I don't think he'll be a problem then! :p
Best this guy at level 25 with warrior castii, she was my main and the combo of hang tough , vengful blade , latent power boost, resilience , and the free concoct latent power made her an indestructible healing and countering machine …. Took a hot second however as my damage output wasn’t too impressive
Man, that was such a fun fight. Had at the time lv.45 Hikari, went in blind, and was beating him good until dude's hostility got to max, then he took me out since i didnt break him in time. 2nd try was a charm.
Cleared this with partitio level 42 armsmaster. Easy to break shield with sixfold strike and then MAX boost attack when shield down. Rest to full health and SP when needed. Latent power gauge almost always full
I could NOT understand how his eye for an eye worked. It took over a few dozen tries because of that alone. I don't believe most people when they say this only took like 5 tries cause the game doesn't give you a single hint. As if anybody could know boosting was the only thing that kept you from hitting him. It goes entirely against the nature of the game as it has been set up. I love this fight now that I understand. This boss really threw me for a much needed loop
Not to be a dick but the game explicitly tells you what to do when you check status effects. He isn’t even the only boss that does this, I believe there are a few more bosses that have some counter effect.
My first time running into him, I was a lvl 42 Temenos with Scholar as secondary class. Suffice it to say, I got annihilated. Repeatedly. He is now a lvl 60 Arcanist. I fully plan on abusing Seal of Immortality for both "Tiger and Wolf" and "Unbreakeable Stance". Wish me luck!
Wow this is exactly my case. I actually just beat him an hour ago in one take. Temenos with Elemental Barrage and Prayer for Plenty is almost unbeatable
Took him down at 43 with Temenos. It's more about making sure you have answers to his tricks, and getting yourself in good gear with phys. def accessories. Good, long fight though.
@gamerprince1999 I read somewhere that his stats are basically the same. Moreover, while his moves are different, they are basically "normal" warrior sword moves without the "katana style" feel to them. I wish he had more moves like his Hienka from his latent power
I feel like that's kind of unfair on Hikari. I definitely couldn't have taken this guy with Olberic with the same strat I had Hikari do (basically stack counter attacks to capitalise on his weak opening blows), and Hikari has a ton of flexibility in his moveset since he learns moves. They're not even that similar in attitude either. Hikari's story is fighting against himself to not use the sword. Olberic's path is more trying to find a reason to keep swinging it.
@@lukeellis2934 I am being a little unfair, but I personally can't shake the feeling his moveset especially, is visually bit generic. I hoped at least his divine skill or EX skill Shinjumonjigiri would have some unique katana style or something look to them. He has two moves with that feel, Hienka and Enervating Slash. He is still my favorite character though
Castti at level 60 for me. My strategy was more...unconventional. I kept spamming stacked regular attacks and a few Poison Axes for the poison damage, and healed off damage cheaply with her single healing skill. I job-classed her as an Arcanist too to get around that insta-kill by using Immortality Seal shortly after he entered each stance. I also made sure to debuff his speed with Concoct so I would always go first after surviving the mortal blow so I could heal again from 1HP. What's great about this is after the insta-kill he automatically drops whatever stance he is in, so you don't have to bother breaking his guard at all! Probably not how the developers intended for this fight, but leave it to Square to always inadvertently make an unbalanced game mechanic in their RPGs. 🤣
You're supposed to break him before he does that, took me a few attempts to figure that out, he charges it up for a few turns and his charge resets if you break him
If you're still stuck - make use of Hikari's counter stance. The small attacks are perfect for countering since you don't need to heal them, and they always break shields even if they aren't the right weapon - Most of the time the amount of attacks line up just about right with how many shields you break too. Probably no surprise that Hikari profits in a duel I suppose haha
