Hello! So I started doing an Octopus Hat tutorial on my Facebook and I figured out how to share it here as well. Yay!

So I chose the Octopus Hat as a tutorial/Crochet Along (CAL)because about 20 people bombarded my facebook page with request for me to make this hat. Instead of making 20 hats I decided I'd teach everyone how to do it themselves, because this is such a complex project.
(Sorry for having my hands out of the frame so much, I didn't notice I was working outside of the shot 😆)

Thanks for this! I'm absolute rubbish at patterns, but you made it much easier to understand. I've already finished the sack and the tentacles 🤭 I'm really excited to see how it'll turn out.

Thank you so much for making this tutorial! I am a lover of octopuses and have wanted one of these hats for years. My grandma taught me when I was very young how to crochet but i've mostly forgotten it all. Recently seen a hat similar to this online and decided, maybe its time I pick it back up and try again! sadly she's passed away so I cant bug her to help me, but with such an excellent tutorial as this, I think I can manage :)

Thanks for making this tutorial. My 46 year old daughter is still a kid at heart and really wanted me to make her one. I just wanted to say that I love my stitch markers, but you can also use a paper clip or a safety pin if you don't want to buy any.

Interesting hat but quite hard to see because your shooting from the side and too close and your hands keep going out of shot as you work so I can hear you explain but not actually see what you’re doing

Ok easy to follow, almost 1) you count but don’t say when to like. 1,2,2hdc, etc second I can’t see the top where you crochet maybe it’s just me! Ty for doing one though 🎉❤

I thank you for making this video of an octopus hat. I'm currently do the twelve rows of 64 stitches. It's curly up and down will that go away?

Hoping you still answer question for this video. Im not a big fan of working in the round was wondering if i can join and keep doing rows. I want to make this so bad. Thinking if it creates a seam i can put second part over the seam to hide it. Guess its trial and error for me.

I do answer when I see the alerts ^_^ You can do a slip stitch join and chain 1 to start each round for more of a row, and the back of the octopus may actually hide the seam it makes really well.

I'm off to the store for yarm because I can't find an entire tote of super saver yarn I have. Not sure how I lost a tote of yarn. I know what will happen I'll buy the colors I want and start this and I'll find Mt tote... least I hope I will lol.

Hi not sure if you will see this or not but your pattern calls for a a5mm hook for this part apparently I crochet to tight and had to go up to a 6mm for this part should I use a larger hook on the next part as well?

If you crochet tight it might work out better with the bigger hook.

How much yarn is needed for the ENTIRE project/hat? I think I heard you say bulky yarn, but saw you post Red Heart worsted weight - isn't that a #4 weight?! Thanks!

I'm not too sure how much total yarn is needed. I had 364 yard skein and I used a little more than half. I used bulky yarn for under the tentacles to make bobbles (suckers).
