"You can't go wherever you want. Captain needs to check thoroughly if there are no [any?] obstacles for the vessel each time you want to change the route." Ah, yes, checking for obstacles. The same thing _every other boat owner_ should do and every crewed yacht has to do.
No, what they mean by "too big" is that most marinas don't have a suitable berth, forcing you to anchor off the shore and use tenders to go to/from land. And as a result you also can't use shore power and must therefore run your generators 24/7/365.
people dont get the fact that it is made for arctic exploration. This vessel has been built to ice-class 1A standard. This is an antarctic exploration vessel
"We have to admit that it's not that luxurious as you could expect it to be." _Six seconds later._ "The main aspect when creating the yacht was comfort of every guest. So the Lursen designers and engineers made sure that every person has enough space and feels good when on the yacht." I mean, that's pretty much the *definition of luxury.* You probably meant *opulent.*
When I saw a Michael Jordan’s yacht sitting around 10 million bucks, I realized there’s really no need to do this unless you’re just on creative mode type wealth. I think it’s great because I love exorbitance. But I’m good on a 40-55M max. If I went for anything larger it would be for extended range, storage, galley and crew accommodations.
The point of this vessel is exploration in antarctic. This vessel is built to ice class specification with an ice class hull 1A. This is what it is built for. So its perfect for its purpose.
Too big. I love yachts but I would never want this. Sometimes you go so big it actually becomes more of a headache to own than a joy. Also it must burn a horrendous amount of money. Nah. No thanks. Even if I had the money I wouldn't want it. I aspire for one but not this size.
yes there was a reported crash (water landing) of one of the two heli.. report claim only minor injury to one of the pilot. this happened in Jan 011 if memory serves me well
@@JulianJohnston919 I think they have to inform authorities of the sovereign water where it happened (iirc it was in Chile or there about but I may be wrong) and then the news became mainstream (it was Paul Allen after all).. I found the info at Reuters.. you are welcome mate! take care
Why would someone want to refit a yacht that they are putting up for sale? Wouldn't the new owner want the yacht to be to their taste and rather do the refit themselves? Also, why invest the money and wait for it to be sold?
Why not sell it to a James Bond villain? Okay, the Liparus was way bigger, but the Octopus should have enough space to hide a ☢️ warhead or something similar.
For me it would be to big from the standpoint that I would feel lost. I would not be comfortable on the yacht. I know people think that Marina mooring and it's draft are problems and I agree. But I think Paul Allen may have felt like I do. It is not on a human scale. For me nothing bigger that 40m.
