Yeah, according to wikipedia, the reason why Joe Odagiri writes his name in Katakana, not in Kanji, is because "Joe" and "Yuzuru" are both the same Kanji and it was confusing.

Sayamaunona, I´m half asian: my mother is japanese, my father italian. I have brown hair, green eyes, but everybody says my look is more asian than western. That´s why I hate all this disrespectful treatment asians give to themselves. What´s the problem with black straight and beautiful hair? My mother is typically japanese, and she looks so good! U have history and a wonderful culture, u don´t have to emulate western style: it´s creepy denying your own people.
Yeah, ok. Indeed I feel superior, not because I´m western or have blond hair, but because I can accept myself as I am, with all my own beauty and uglyness as well. I hope someday asians could rescue self-respect and identity.
I know and you know that almost ALL japanese singers and actors/actress do plastic surgery in their eyes. Not to mention the blond hairs, even pathetic blue contact lenses are being used for them to look more western. If this is not to be ashamed of themselves then I don´t know what it would be. I´m glad that this guy don´t care about those ridiculous things and focus in what matters: his acting.
As I say before, blond hairs and blue eyes are too pathetic practices to the western eyes. It´s nothing more than a clear inferiority complex. Enjoy changes? But all of you do the exactly same thing, so where is the difference from the others, the extravagance of the act? Again: I´ll support every asians, like, for instance, the extraordinary Ken Watanabe, who is proud of being what he is and it´s admired and praised everywhre, as a brilliant actor and a very attractive man as well.
