What a beautiful lesson, with the Rembrandt. Comparing the different paintings of the same subject, revealing mastery in the composition, the distillation of essence. So eloquent.

Love from Ireland … I was in a serious car accident and was in hospital for 4 months with a broken neck , arm and leg … metal rods and plates in all three areas and had to lie on my back looking up at a ceiling for 4 months , I can relate to your work . I had dreams of people , alien like standing beside my hospital bed ….. would love to have a whiskey with you

Sinceramente su pensamiento que va dirigido a sus pupilos es de otro nivel ,el ve el arte como algo sagrado .

I agree with Odd. As a 73 year old I think that vision of an Archetype generally comes when one ages and matures.

Certainly Nerdrum is an incredibly powerful painter. Maybe not an artist, but one of the greatest living painters. His views on art are definitely very interesting. Although you don't have to share everything! I really liked his take on archetypes. Yes that is absolutely true. I don't know of anyone, except for a relatively unknown German painter, who probably best makes this his very own main meaning in his paintings. Unfortunately, this artist is very idiosyncratic and now lives in seclusion somewhere in Texas. His style of painting does not correspond to Nerdrum's view, because he paints more realistically, but that is precisely what is decisive about him, that he does not attach or even measure everything that makes up his art to a specific painting technique. I had the opportunity to meet him at his solo exhibition in Zagreb in 2017 and was surprised. Many people cried to be able to see something so profound in their lives. His explanation was: It doesn't matter whether you paint like Jenny Saville or Odd Nerdrum, this path is always one-dimensional because this artistic path leads through technology. Art can only develop if you incorporate interpretation possibilities for everyone. Not just for fans of kitsch painting or those of wildly expressive scribblers. On the contrary. This one-sided style of painting eventually leads to stagnation. See Jenny Saville's Recent Works Just another cheap disaster. And the special thing about this German artist is precisely that there are always correct interpretations for every observer of his works and his current state of consciousness. This can and should even change over a longer period of time. This is intentional. There is no right or wrong in his art. And that's what I call art.

@@juliannaranjo8008 Sorry, I'm a composer not an artist. It's been 5 years already. Something with Anton H...? You'd have to google it. In any case, in 2017 his solo exhibition was at the HDLU in Zagreb.

"Myself I cannot see the persistence of the artist type. I see no need for the individual man of genius in such an order. I see no need for martyrs. I see no need for vicarious atonement. I see no need for the fierce preservation of beauty on the part of a few. Beauty and Truth do not need defenders, nor even expounders. No one will ever have a lien on Beauty and Truth; they are creations in which all participate. They need only to be apprehended; they exist externally. Certainly, when we think of the conflicts and schisms which occur in the realm of art, we know that they do not proceed out of love of Beauty or Truth. Ego worship is the one and only cause of dissension, in art as in other realms. The artist is never defending art, but simply his own petty conception of art. Art is as deep and high and wide as the universe. There is nothing but art, if you look at it properly. It is almost banal to say so yet it needs to be stressed continually: all is creation, all is change, all is flux, all is metamorphosis." - Henry Miller

The students are learning pure affectation, embarrassing melodrama, and setting maudlinism as a goal. Not how to paint well or create good pictures.
