I am working through this tutorial and it is a huge help. Creating a Steam Deck layout as I go. I'm the creator of the official dwarf fortress steam deck scheme and I can't wait to publish one for this game
I bought Odd Realm some time ago, tried it, and enjoyed it a lot. I set it aside so I wouldn't get burnt out before 1.0. Now that we have hit 1.0 I'm excited to jump back in and see what's changed!
Great tutorial to start me going, right now I am trying to figure out more advanced things like stockpile logistics and conditionals. My particular case is trying to store water in barrels in a wellhouse, if it makes sense. Also, from time to time I see pixeldudes take a bath in the nearest lake, that's lovely! Looking forward for new tutorials on the pixeldude needs and aspirations. I hope your game will get more popular, the music and gameplay are appealing and relaxing, not all colony management games get this right.
I played Rimworld but I really like the pixel art style of this and the fantasy setting, I hope you do more tutorials as I might pick this up. Good games to chill and play where I can save and come back to
Another Brotip: to quickly find your settlers positions, click the Job Priorities button (TAB). It will grey out everything except you and your people. I use it for Hermit Mode
Something the video doesn't cover, if you want to get merchants to trade with, you should pick a spot that isn't too far from allied countries (connected by land). If you settle super far away or on an island, you may miss out on that part of the game.
Second game now. One of my colonists won't eat! He's starving even though I have over 300 food in stock. I tried to disable all his skills to force him to prioritize eating, but he just stands there idle starving. I don't know what to do.
This is a good start. The in-game tutorial bugs out on me pretty much right away... for the life of me I cannot get wellhouses to work. I install 1 well with 2 barrels with the goal of a worker transferring the wellwater to the barrel automatically. I don't fully understand the task automation yet but the only way I have gotten the citizens to collect is to manually order them to. Any ideas?
@oddrealm_dev ill try again but there's an equal chance I simply don't understand the mechanic. I have the task "gather water" set on. The only thing that got the citizens to bring water over was to set the task manually to repeat a number of times (the bottom left hand tool tip). I'm not sure if I need a tonne of wooden baskets to carry it over but regardless I can't seem to stockpile water within the wellhouse or the industrial buildings (though that may be due to a lack of 1X1 storehouse)
This game makes no sense, how come when you make rooms it just turns into ground when you go out of the room menu? You can make rooms that aren't rooms? Like they behave like rooms even though it isn't a room? Typically a room has some requirements, like walls. Makes 0 sense.
Its not dwarf fortress, walls serve only two purposes in this game, to protect your stuff and to sustain a vertical structure above it, So far I'm making a tower with all of the bedrooms and workshops inside, farms on its perimeter and a fence and a moat protecting everything.
