Upon making a similar type joke to a friend, I was told; " you are not funny, you really should just give up trying to be". I said I thought it was funny!! LOL I thought his joke was funny too, all the more funny with the deadpan delivery!! As for me I keep trying to be funny, though I fear there is truth in my friends advice. Or maybe we are just sophisticated jokers?! One can hope? LOL
Annette certainly did have low partner selection standards… and boy did she pay for it . I am amazed she was convicted given the flimsy evidence in this case . The recollections of a nine year old girl twenty seven years after the fact . That seems just insane . Very disturbing. One hopes an appeal is occurring
@@gabrielleandrew542 They couldn't even get this trial into a proper courtroom, so something tells me they probably are also lacking in the proper appeals process!🥴
Allow me to offer my analysis: You should be watching Dr. Grande while simultaneously being productive in other areas of life and simulations like life. 😂
Morning usually finishes cleaning everything, restocks, and preps for the later shift, especially if they also serve food. It doesn't mean that it's open to customers. At my place of business we're only open to customers from noon to 5 pm, but I'm often there from 7 am to 7 pm. General workers work from 8-11 and 12-6.
@@Nylak-Otter There's a place called Johhny Zips where I'm from that is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year. I was a salesman for a Budweiser distributorship many years ago and the co-worker that serviced that bar said it wasn't uncommon to see a drunk with his head on the table at 10 in the morning.
@@Mili-bedili - I noticed the ears & thought possibly a burn accident. But the face skin appears smooth. Either way the general striking appearance is not one of health and well-being.
When Annette offered the hitman payment & asked him where the shingle was after he used Corey's head to hit a home run his response was *"It's on the house"*
Packs of roofing shingles are very heavy. My young son can move those packs twice as fast as I can. I suspect she bailed after less than two hours because she couldn’t lift and carry those packs at a reasonable speed - which makes me wonder if she were strong enough to beat a powerful young man to death. Maybe she was - or maybe he was incapacitated by drugs or booze. Or perhaps he was killed by someone else.
We don’t prosecute crimes based on hearsay. If we did, anyone could put anyone else they hated in jail just by making something up about them. Hearsay is not considered evidence at all. Dr. Grande is right, this is an abnormal trial for allowing it
It's nice to see all these comments as with my adhd and intrusive thoughts, it's hard to stay focused. I'm glad I wasn't the only one having trouble with the huge cast of characters!
That's the Problem with precedent law. Some time before the Salem Witch Trials, there were the Pendle Witch Trials in England. Puritan King James I. was told his whole shitshow of a life that witches and catholics are out to kill him, so he allowed children's testimony in case of witch Trias (for All other crime it was forbidden for children to testify because they are to malleable.) People were executed on the Word of a 9 year old girl. (You might know accused Alice Nutter and the Name Devize from 'Good Omens') this was used as legitimization of children's testimony.
As a Missourian, moving to Branson and buying a bar sounds like a decision I'd make if everything in my life had gone wrong and I was finally ready to wallow in hellish misery rather than "big plans." Oof.
Yeah this is a seriously screwed up case. How can you convict someone of murder from only two witness testimonies that are both extremely suspect? I feel so bad for this woman.
And why wasn't the hair found in Cory's hands DNA tested when they reopened the case? That should have been the evidence they needed, either to convict or clear her!
The "beyond a reasonable doubt" could surely come to play here. Guilty is supposed to surpass a reasonable doubt. Of course, "reason" these days is suspect, too.😮
It's a travesty of justice thru and thu. The judge should have stepped in denied the verdict. It's a 30 yr old case with no substantial evidence except heresy from unreliable witnesses. I hope some kind of justice group comes to her aid
@@drn13355 dude there’s clearly not enough evidence here to convict someone of murder. Hell there’s no evidence at all! Stop being a contrarian, this woman got shafted.
I had to find out why this person looked the way he does. Best i found was apparently at the time of testifying, he had been recovering from a terrible accident at a salvage yard.
Those baseball puns were fantastic, great work. The prosecutors, the jury, and the defense lawyer should all be ashamed of themselves. That is a terrible ruling if that was the only evidence presented!
If you're a criminal it shouldn't. It seems like the judges inflict enormous prison sentences on people with very little evidence of much, if any criminal history or & the career criminals that commit blatant unspeakable crimes get locked up for a long list of piddly stints
I remember a story about a small town bar that was always open on Sunday mornings. The owners were getting older and decided to not be open at all on Sundays. The locals went to the county commissioners and requested a county wide law stating that bars had to be open all day on Sunday. They were serious, I was quite young, maybe a jr. hi student, and found this extremely entertaining. The commissioners did not take any action.
If I was on the jury, I would have voted for an acquittal. Common sense leads me to believe that Annette is guilty. However, I’m not entirely convinced. This case isn’t like OJ
One question left unanswered here: If young Jessica shared what she saw with her mother (albeit it was discouraged to share the story with the police at the time) why was only Kayla asked if she remembered what happened and not Jessica’s mother if she remembered Jessica’s story?
If I remember correctly, she did testify to her daughter saying that. However, I don't find that necessarily convincing either. Just as the other characters in this saga aren't particularly credible and have potential motive to lie, or who knows even paid for their testimony. Nothing to convict her imo. Especially learning of a husband who had motive and strength to do this, and had not been investigated. Strange case.
Dr. Grande would you please analyze the case of Salvador Sanchez an off duty cop who shot an entire family at a Costco in Corona California in 2019, it is truly a disturbing case.
Local cops and County DA gave the shooter cop a get out of jail free card. Local police department punted. Investigation was in slow motion until public interest subsided. DA "took it to the grand jury" and then declining to file charges. If it has been an ordinary citizen they would have been in jail on the day of the event. State tried to prosecute later but did not get a conviction.
Did no one consider that the hair found in the ictims hand did NOT match Annette and was never matched to any suspects? That detail alone should have been enough for reasonable doubt.
The guy was probably killed by the jealous husband. It takes a lot of strength and stamina to deliver all those blows. The candlelight memory is quite a fantasy.
Shouldn’t be this easy to convict someone without real evidence. It’s far better to let a guilty person go on lack of evidence than it is to convict an innocent person, this is exactly why our justice system is supposed to be better than this. I think she probably did it but it should always be what you can prove
Exactly, there's at least a half dozen other people who have motive and could've done it. Yet no evidence. I wonder if they had no way to do DNA testing once it became available? I'm guessing they just let the case go cold. Odd though that as soon as a girl recalls a 27 yr old memory they jump on the chance to covict... based solely on someone's unreliable long term memory. Very scary this is allowed as this could happen to anyone.
Right this just makes me more angry when somebody who is more obviously guilty is not even charged because they feel like they couldn't win above a reasonable doubt...
The woman killed by her husband maybe have been on the verge of reporting him to the police for this crime. He panicked, and then afterward had to end himself. (?)
@@redwatch.what? they mean that other guy who killed his wife for having an affair with Cory. it happened AFTER Cory’s death. so Cory was sleeping with this other woman, then Cory was murdered, then the husband of said woman murders her and kills himself. they say that maybe the woman found out or suspected that her husband killed Cory, her lover, and intended to report the husband, so he killed both her and himself.
4:50 "After he dropped Wendy off at her vehicle, Cory went back to the Hazen farmhouse and had angry sex with Annette." Never go to bed angry... or have sex angry... or kill anyone angry.
11:55 I'm a screenwriting judge for the screenplay festival, NYISA, which means I write feedback for incoming scripts. To be honest, her story sounds like a normal dialogue scene in these scripts.
What was wrong with the jurors who voted 'guilty' with so little evidence? Perhaps (just a guess) there was some "Peyton Place" dynamics bubbling under the surface in the small town.
The real crime is that she’s behind bars from the fevered dreams of a nine year old’s memories from years previous. Her defense attorney must have been ridiculously incompetent.
speculative and circumstantial... witnesses not credible..stories are weak and not supported...she MAY have overreacted and completely excessively attacked him ...anything's possible.. case is SO thin
Yeah, I hate cheating, but the death penalty is a bit harsh. The murderer still is a violent cruel murderer, even if the victim is a narcisistic jerk. Seriously. Just break up.

Has dr. Grande analysed the Netflix series Baby Reindeer? There are four 'characters' that deserve his attention - Donny Dunn, Martha, Teri and Darrien. Based on true events.
Dr. grande I truly appreciate your play on words and the fact that you can keep a straight face when putting some of these sentences together as a testament to your balanced and professional demeanor!
This should be compulsory viewing at the prosecutor's office. I'm astonished this travesty made as far as the Court's basement the toilets would have been a more appropriate venue.
The police obviously botched the case early on, they shoulda figured out it was her back then. What happened to the days where they solved crimes without DNA.
This is a total mystery. Annette had a reason to kill him. So did about everyone else in the town. The evidence against her is nowhere near enough to convict.
Wow! You made me laugh out loud! You are a real deadpan comedian. That baseball summation was great! You hit this one out of the park! Just thought I'd take a "shortstop" to visit your channel!
Not only that it demonstrates a lack of standards. I don't begrudge anyone having a couple of drinks after a hard day or on a special occasion, but using illicit drugs like coke are a sure sign of a shithouse person.
Dr Grande...you crack me up. You only respond to comments that applaud your analysis...never general comments and definitely not comments that disagree with your analysis.
