Who knows with our advantage rule. It's proper shite. Should do what every other football code does and don't blow the whistle, and call advantage, unless there is no advantage
The Stewart free kick I think is just a mistake due to players always going for the ball these days and not the player. With media coverage and tribunal desicions based on whether a player has eyes on the ball or not. I think it's becoming more of a shock when a player like Stewart ignores the ball and goes straight for the player.
You're cruel for opening this with Stewart's tackle on Bailey. I thought we had it when he got that chase down and we went back to the other end and slotted a goal. Now I have to relive the crushing of my hope...
5:27 sorry mate, disagree. In no maths book is that 360°. That’s 180° at best. And I disagree he held on long enough. Momentum carried them through and while standing up on the tackle, McClean managed to get a clean, albeit makeshift handball away. Right call -in my opinion- based on the video evidence. I know non-holding the ball calls bug you (me too) but it feels like you’re looking for one that’s not there in this case.
This is my grand final qt: lions 2.8 20 swans .1 .4 ht . Swans .9 . 12. Lions .3 .9 3qt lions .8 .12 swans 11 .12. Full time lions 15. 15. Total 105 swans .15 . 14 total 104 lion’s premiership.
Haven’t seen anyone talk about it but there was a moment in the Lions game in their forward pocket where Dunkley was in the ruck. Umpire confirms he is in the ruck however he is taken out by a Swans player as the ball is thrown up and nothing is called, Swans get the clearance out.
Firstly, thanks for all your vids this season. Can't wait for next season. Secondly I have to disagree with you. I think if someone is holding the ball when they cross the line they should be penalised. The ball wont go across nearly as much. Hope you have a great Chrissy. Seeya next year.
3:08 if you watch on .25 speed you can very clearly see the ball is going out and literally deflects off Stewart's arm/fist to land into Cameron's arms for a mark. You woud think the umpire who is 1m away would notice
While the game wasn't close, you have to wonder if those bad calls against Port killed any chance of them getting momentum back and making the game competitive.
I feel like there were alot of questionable decisions that went the other way that he missed out on, not saying he is biased against Sydney but is a somewhat regular pattern I’ve seen over the last few weeks. There was one call where 2 port players ran into eachother and both went down and they got a free out of it, couldn’t believe that wasn’t in here
the Mckenna irish snap assist was absolutely insane. The stewart free against lohman is fair, its technically a strike. Swinging arm across lohmans front. The umpire called it incorrectly though saying it was holding rather than a strike, gets called heaps though you cant just run and swing an arm at a player. Genuinely could've done a lot of damage
It’s only a free off the ball where it is considered a strike. If the player is touching the ball, you’re allowed to bump them which is what Stewart did
@@ootychooty5139 it wasn't a bump he hit him with a swinging forearm, that's a strike. Its a free 24/7 and has been called heaps. A player having or not having the ball doesn't change a strike being a free or not. Do you actually know the rules? In no way did he attempt to bump or tackle, he swung his forearm into him
@@Tosicc567 he bumps him with his shoulder, using his arm to guide lohmann's body to his shoulder. he clearly didn't "hit him" otherwise lohmann wouldn't have moved so much mid air.
I don't like your umpiring takes sometimes I feel like your videos turn into an umpire review video rather than "oddities" But your game knowledge is really starting to show, you're getting things more generally right now then sort of just pointing out 50/50 calls/ just plain umpiring mistakes.
generally because the umpire calls are considered "odd" and also cause it's finals and only two games are being played it's really hard to pick out odd funny things that happen as it's less common than the home and away season
5:28 he doesn't get the handball off, it's dropping the ball, free kick to Port. 6:35 Ah Chee touches the ball first are you blind. 8:12 I would best explain a scenario like this: "pay what comes first". It is clear that the high contact was a little harsh by the umpire but before that, Gulden clearly held onto the ball too long, umpires need to learn to pay free kicks faster and pay the ones that happen first.
7:30 lions fan, so blatantly biased and all that, but I don't think Cammeron is acting here. He's jumped a little too early, and the soft contact is enough to throw him off ballance. You can see he mucks up the landing, and thats why he goes down. I dont think he was trying to draw out the free kick at all, I think it was just the perfect set up to make a reasonably small touch to the back enough to bowl over any player. Wether or not thats enough for a free kick, i dunno. I dont mind if they pay them consistsntly. But point is I dont think he's playing for the free, just unlucky with the landing.
Tom Stewart only had eyes for the player, he wasn't contesting for the ball at all and just went in to bump the player. In AFL eyes and the interpretation now even with it still being 50/50 at times, it was an illegal bump to the ribs that could have seriously injured Lohmann. Its a dog move such early in game at that, go for the ball if your wanting to bump
3:35 Nothing wrong with the advantage, port player hit the ball and denied Swans from taking it quickly, probably a professional foul type situation. Great work by the Umpire.
