That is very likely. Just like kuru for humans and mad cow disease for cows, chronic wasting disease turns their brains into swiss cheese and can cause many odd and self destructive behaviors. I once saw a deer infected make gurgling grunting and squealing noises before jumping right off a cliff. Just remember that if you see a sick animal do not approach it, especially this disease as it makes them very unpredictable.

Sorry to break it to you, but even with the most advanced technology possible in our existence, plus the laws of physics applied everywhere in the universe, there's no way in a trillion years we'll be able to travel at light-speed. No matter how intelligent aliens may be, they will also never be able to find us. Because travelling at the speed of light requires no matter, and everything in this universe is made of matter. So in conclusion, interstellar, or travelling to other stars, is scientifically impossible to do with humans. However, we are definitely able to send spacecrafts to other stars, but that will take thousands and thousands of years.

Thanks to what Dr4X3k said, I looked up, "The guy who killed himself on tv" on Google, and I got a Wikipedia article on R. Budd Dwyer.

Budd Dwyer, which someone has already mentioned. He was a politician in the '80s accused (and apparently convicted) of some sort of malfeasance, and was destined for jail. While on live TV, he gave a speech, then handed out envelopes to various people in the audience containing messages to be given to his family, and instructions about donating his organs. He then pulled a gun out of a manila envelope, put it in his mouth and pulled the trigger. It was later proven that he was innocent, as he had claimed all along, but this was the only way he could be sure his family would be taken care of financially. RU-vid used to have the whole video available to view, but it has since been withdrawn. Not at the request of a grieving family or for any reasons of respect, but because now you have to pay various news organizations to see if it you're interested. In short, this innocent man's sad death is profitable for someone, so there you go.
