Thanks for sharing! To date I covered for eight people at work, not all at once. Covid is hard on everyone sick or not. I will take the extra work over being sick.

Covid hit me exactly the same way, except no fever. Absolutely exhausted without doing anything, sleeping 13-14 hours a night.

Sorry to hear about your ailments. I've had Covid three times over the last year and a half. Six months since the last time and I still have issues that never went away. Hope you fare better and get back to 100% quickly.

Fully vaccinated?? My wife and I are fully vaccinated (2 initial injections plus one booster in Australia) and my wife caught it back in March. She was crook for 4 days and her words were "if this is what it is like being fully vaccinated, I hate to think what it would be like without being vaccinated". I was a close contact so had to isolate as well. We took no precautions at home during the 7 day isolation in the hope I would get it and so booster my immunity. I did have a slight headache on day 0 (when my wife tested positive) but I tested negative. I tested negative again on day 6. As they say, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Translation: learn from those that live it; not those that talk about it.

Had covid 2 times and didn´t feel the slightest thing. I take Vit D every 3 days and that took care of it. I´m unvaccinated. Around here in Germany, the vaccinated fall in rows, the unvaccinated have mostly nothing. Thats what we see here.

The slots on the combination 4 jaw are mostly used to hold counterweights for irregular work that would cause the lathe to vibrate.

I’m admiring your wooden toolboxes. I remember you doing a tour of one of them years ago. I’m wondering what you are stashing in them today. I have a couple Gerstner tool chests that I keep my vintage treasures in. What’s in the boxes? I think it would make an interesting video. I recently acquired a Starrett catalog like the one you showed, but it’s from 1965, I believe. A wealth of information in there on how to use some of the more obscure tools. I showed it off on one of my tool groups and one fellow said that it was required reading for his apprentices.

My Grandfather worked for Bethlehem Steel, wire division, Johnstown,Pa. All I remember was he was proud to make slinky wire.

One never knows when a tooth breaks on a gear cutter so spares are handy. The Drum might be high current model as well as 3-phase. Nice.

Again I can sharpen any of your form relief gear hobs . It's important when grinding them that the offset of the tooth be maintained. On the cutter will be marked ether offset or rake and a decimal number. This refers to how far the tooth face is past center. I know how to sharpen these cutters with the correct rake angle and without burning. Also if you have a cutter that is badly burned it can be fixed a lot easier than you think so don't throw it out! You will only pay for the shipping to me and I will cover the cost. It would give me a chance to show off a little. If you're interested answer me back . I am in Ohio . I do enjoy your videos.

Glad you are recovering well! Hopefully you will continue to heal well! Are there any backplates on the 4-jaw chucks or are they all plain backed? I've got an old Lodge and Shipley 14 but only a 3-jaw scroll for it so far and adding a 4 would be phenomenal. Thanks!

would you like my oddball collection of horizontal mill cutters. i doubt i will ever own one. every job i have needed, i can get done on the shaper or my vertical. My 16 in walcott has a 4 jaw scroll / independent chuck.

awe man, Shingles SUCKS! The first time I had Shingles? was right after I got laid off and right as I started my first semester returning to college, and was diagnosed with Shingles on Friday and come Monday was diagnosed with Lyme and Parvo.... That was a sucky month.

Havig one thing after another (unrelated, maybe) is sure miserable. I've been lucky, get something get over it and then nothing else for a while, but wife had an appendectomy that went very well and then came down with some sort of GI thing with vomiting and diarrhea five days later. Put her in the hospital briefly. Rather than see her that way, would have preferred it was me. Really glad to see you back.

Covid can really knock the stuffing out of you. Don't overdo it while you are still recovering. That said, I was curious where things stand on the Diresta band saw project?

A gear tooth Vernier is the only tool you can use to make measurements of Straight Bevel gears, as the pitch is tapered. For precision in normal involute or helical gears, you're better off measuring between pins. As for the Marvell Band Saw... I cut the bevel teeth on most of the lower bandwheels, and drive pinions, for the Marvel 8 between 2015 and 2019.

No vaccine is 100% and their effectiveness drops over time. In placebo-controlled studies, Shingrix (zoster vaccine recombinant, adjuvanted) reduced the risk of developing shingles by 97.2% in subjects 50 years and older. After 4 years Shingrix drops to about 85% which is still pretty darn good.
