They were allowed to be creative. I think a problem the game industry and movie industry have now is that they are these massive productions so a silly little game like this could never be made today because they’d throw way to much money at it and expect it to succeed which means cutting corners

They use what's popular and proven because they want every game to appeal to the widest possible audience, not realizing that most of these mechanics started in niche games. Dark souls combat was a niche that became popular, and now it's overused.

My grandma rented this game for me at blockbuster for a single weekend. I played it nonstop. Never even beat it and it has lived rent free in my head ever since. Every year I'm like I should go finish it, but something always comes up and pulls me away.

Oh man you gotta finish it. It has such a great story that definitely catches you off guard. The game gets better as you find out the twist of the game.

My grandma loves this game and i always have to help her on certain missions. She always calls me in when she plays and says "Alex help me play stranger" and when i take damage she always yells at me to shake. Love this game so much

Woah! I remember seeing this on a gaming magazine in a bookstore near us. Being a kid back then, I bought this cheap magazine to cut out pictures for a school project. But most of the time I just look at the images, and imagine how this game feels like when playing it. Growing up I never had any video games, not even a phone. This video just popped up in my recommendations and all the memories went back. Now I can atleast say I have some decent platforms in terms of gaming (console/pc). But this makes me appreciate everything even more.

I have been on the hunt for this game for years and I could never ever remember the name all I could remember was the running animation and being stuck on a puzzle I was just searching through xbox games online for half an hour when I found it, it had your video under it and knowing that one or my favorite youtubers manged to post a video without me catching it when it was posted is heartbreaking

Absolutely loved this game. Definitely a favorite. Childhood games I’ll never forget and some of many favorites. Metal Gear Solid. Prince of Persia, Sands of Time. Toy Commander. Ninja Gaiden(hardest game ever played) Red Dead Revolver. Vigilante 8. Of course there’s more.

This game was the first ever game I got for my Xbox , I love it so much till this day! The gameplay the way you can change camera POV , the ammo you find plus when they upgrade your weapons omg bro this game is everything to me! Even the storyline is sick I wish they could’ve made a second game exploring the steef history and universe! This takes in the same place as munch and gabe I believe I’m not sure but yeah I love this game ❤️

The oddworld games do a really good job of feeling like an open world while still maintaining a strong linear storyline. I feel like this game could get a full HD remake and sell pretty well.

I remember hearing about this game on this TV network oli can't remember the name but I used watch it because they had this show where they would talk about video games especially the newest video games and how yo beat them and I remember them basically like ign but WAY better and I remember they showed this video game and it looked so weird to me as a kid so of course I loved it especially when you can shove an alien animal into a gun shoot it and blow people up now I gotta buy an Xbox box just for this game ehh it's worth it

Cool story about this game. I was 15 when this game came out. I was a regular up at my local Gamestop (as was any gamer back in the day) the manager of the store was about to leave to go to manage another store. I was in two weeks before this game was supposed to come out. He said "here take this demo and tell me what you think when you come back." Well I was playing it and about TWO HOURS into the game I was like.... ummm I don't think this is a demo!? Turns out he gave me the store copy ( on purpose) such a awesome game. I loved every second of that game.

this game and the other oddworld games were the pinnacle of my childhood i remember beating the game on the og xbox for the first time while i was still in kindergarten i still look back extremely fondly on all the oddworld games but this one is special to me and even holds deeper meaning to me as an adult. Stranger, Abe, and Munch will always have a place in my heart just like the brutal yet comedic world they inhabit

My dad refers to every cat we’ve owned as Fuzzles. A lot of gems were lost time time that had the unfortunate fate of being released around Halo in its prime. I’ll never forget Oddworld though
