I like the singing but i dislile two things here: 1: Any Version with any text at all is not the european anthem. The anthem doesn't have text in order to not favor any one nation. 2: I feel that this Translation missed the point a little. The Original text is about celebrating joy itself and all these positive, peace giving properties are ascribed to joy itself. While there is a connection between joy and some sort of divinity (Götterfunken means spark of a god/the gods) in the original, this translation focuses too much on god and gives the properties originally given to joy to god instead

Beethoven used this poem as the basis for the prelude of the final movement of his 9th Symphony in 1824. Beethoven's text was a modified version of Schiller's poem. It was this composition that was adopted as the European Anthem. The only thing that is common is that the Christian hymn "Joyful, Joyful, We Adore You" is also set to the same Beethoven's melody.

I’m from the U.K. and I wasn’t able to vote in the 2016 referendum because I was too young, but like the vast majority of people in my age demographic (under 24) I’m very pro-EU and European integration. I’d like us to go even further and join schengen and eventually adopt the Euro as-well, I love Europe and I think in an ever America-China dominated world, Europe needs to step up and be the third player.
