I think changing the sliders to make the opponents better at attacking is unreasonable considering how your Defense isn’t the quickest anyway. Instead you could change the sliders to make their Defense better because partially your just dancing around them in their box

If you rlly wanna line up how Arsenal do irl, you sorta have to go with a 2-3-5. The fullbacks are inverted and basically become CDMs alongside Partey during build-up, with Xhaka and Odegaard pushing forwards into a front 5. It’s pretty much exactly how Man City play too. I’ve tried using it on Fifa 22 and it does genuinely work, as long as you set the fullbacks (now CDMs) to cover wings so you still have a back 4 when defending. Another great video btw 👍

That Martinelli goal defo wouldn’t have given as OG in game or IRL. It was on target. Only time it would be given as an own involving the keeper usually is if if hits the post then hits the keeper and then goes in

Some issues I've spotted in career mode just from watching early creator footage: Fixtures and calendar not in sync with real life fixtures No space for more players on the bench unlike the changes made in real life Substitution board errors which were seen last year (player coming off kit number is in green and player coming on kit number in red) A bit disappointing to see this as they are simply changes which make the game much more realistic and enjoyable

matt, if you want to emulate how arteta sets up the team its worth looking in to how the defenders sit back with partey and one of the half backs to form a block so the other team cant counter as easily or are forced to attack from the wings. thats what seems to be leaving you exposed on the counter, the offensive side seems to be set up ok.

Matt you should use the Left Bumper when defending to have a second defender push toward the ball!

If you're looking to make the game more of a challenge then sticking the controls down to semi-assisted is the way to go. Far better than using sliders to handicap your players or unrealistically juice up the ai's players.

Oh, the exclamation mark for players playing out of position on the pitch is still a thing, even if players have that position listed as their 2nd, 3rd or 4th position. Great, EA, great.

Those HyperMotion replays are realistic. La Liga always puts in the Microsoft analytics as overlays on replays. Really clever tech. Tells you the xG of the chance and other interesting stats

when using inverted fullbacks the wingers need to stay wide then when the winger recieved the ball you cut inside put saka and martinelli to stay wide and your formation needs to be a bit narrow let the wingers stretch the play

Best tip you definitely need is dont defend the player with the ball, defend the runners first, the AI will press the ball enough for them to try pass. You also dont have to commit to the tackles just jockey, recovery is too slow. In FUT it becomes a bit more tricky with dynamic switching needed, but yeah hope it helps.

I can't believe how poor the AI looks again this year. Some of the defending choices are so insanely bad. That run with Vieira at 15:30 when the defender suddenly moves out of the space is absolute dog shit AI. I don't know EA can be satisfied with that, let alone have the audacity to label it hyper intelligence 2.0 or whatever nonsense they've come up with this year. Very disappointed.

Think Smith Rowe and Vieira are going to be incorporated as interiors in real life, i.e. more offensive cm's. You should train ESR as that and use him both on the left and as LCM

You should train your full backs to be inverted full backs in their development plans

Use nelson man, never given a chance by any of the arsenal managers in the past

Matt you should use the variable formation tactic and alternate in game with the D-Pad to be realistic because real life tactics have lots of variation. You should have the default 4231 from the first episode, the current 433 holding, and your version you use when Eddie comes on.

I think you should keep the inverted full backs you have to make sure your width is accounted for with wingers or your 8s however you want is the full backs are tucking and not providing that

does inverted fullbacks actually do something this year? Also they're never going to close you down enough, in FIFA there's no back tracking, if a player is past a line of defence, this line stops worrying about the player and leaves him to the next (midfielders never track back, there's infinite space in-between the lines)

Playing with a high defensive line is the reason the pace of players are causing you big problems I would suggest dropping the line a bit and see if that helps

In Fifa 21 and Fifa 22, they hardly did anything. 3: Does standing still with the ball still deplete the stamina bar like crazy in Fifa 23? In Fifa 22 they did stuff like putting Madueke at CDM, Casemiro at LW, Lamptey at CB etc. 5: Does loading a Career Mode save still select the default team sheet even if you had a custom made lineup seelcted before exiting the save? 6: Does Fifa 23 also reset changes made to the starting lineup made in the pre-match screen of Career Mode when you try to select an individual player to control?

If you want the wingers tracking back you can just put them on come back on defense. Having them on get in behind will make sure they’re running up the pitch again when you get possession.
