Kusanagi is a japanese sword usually used to represent the end of a lifetime or story. That alone added so much more meaning to the song for me.

I'm sitting here listening to this next to my two month old daughter. She was being a little fussy but I started playing this and she watched the screen for a bit and then fell asleep. As I listen to this song I think about all the things about life that I love and that I can't wait to share with her. I think of her brand new life and all of the experiences she will have. I'm saddened by the fact that I will never be able to see the world like she does, like I did when I was a child. This song makes me long for my own innocence and at the same time I feel so much joy at being here to watch my child grow up and learn about the world, how it can be sad and unfair but also how it can be filled with so much love and beauty at the same time. I can't wait for my daughter to get older yet I want her to never grow up and see the world as we adults see it. This song is the sound of childhood and growing up, at least that's what it is to me. It's beautiful and optimistic but with a hint sadness and yearning for the past, wishing you could go back and see the world as you saw it when you were a kid.

thawhiteazn Your comment made me tear up a bit. As someone who's ever nostalgic and constantly clinging to the past, and elements of my childhood, I watch every fragment of my remaining innocence fall away as I get closer and closer to 20... what you wrote really hit home. Thank you. Your daughter is lucky. I hope she grows up to be a fine adult who doesn't forget the beauty of childhood.

I havent cried properly in around 8 months after I broke up with my ex girlfriend. Lifes been pretty stressful recently and shits just been building up inside. The intro started and im a wreck right now but it feels so nice to have genuine tears again. Thank you Odesza.

I see my life flashing before my eyes. Enjoying the peaceful days of early childhood, remembering those stressful nights as a pre-teen, seeing myself study extremely hard every night for final exams as a teenager and early adult. I envision myself sitting alone at bars, then smiling down upon my own small children. I imagine myself as an elder woman, asking where the time has gone. I see tears in my eyes on my deathbed, thinking about all the grand memories I had - and the worse ones - along with these types of songs. I think about the title of this song, meaning the end of a story or lifetime. I close my eyes, and all I see is white.

"You take a sound. Any sound. Record it and then change its nature by a multiplicity of operations. Record it at different speeds. Play it backwards. Add it to itself over and over again. You adjust filters, echoes, acoustic qualities. You combine segments of magnetic tape. By these means and many others you can create sounds which no one has ever heard before.."

On a summer afternoon with the door wide open in my unfinished house, I turn this song on and open a bottle of sake. There's a warm breeze going through the tall grasses, and it makes me think of a wide field. My children are playing in it, happy as can be. I look on them from a white tower that symbolizes my journey away from this life. Though that's decades away, the song and the house I'm building make that seem not so far away. It brings a deep sense of gratitude into my heart for all that I've been given, and a content feeling knowing that one day I'll be a grandfather, listening to the sound of my children's children playing as I leave this world. Gratitude, just deep gratitude is all I feel as I sip sake with this booming in the background. Love you all. Get in touch with what you truly want out of life, and your heart will lead the way.

I'm 23 years old and this song gives me flashbacks of my brother and I when we were about 3 years old when we used to be in school.. I tend to get flashbacks of us picking out tiny banana looking things and putting them in our lunch box.. He told me he remembers that too.. But it's just funny how we used to be so close and we'd laugh at everything.. I mean we were children but he would take care of me like if he was any older than me lol and he's only 1 year older. Anyways I like having these type of flashbacks and with this melody.. I just get them like falling starts crashing to my brain :3 hehe

This is probably the most beautiful electronic song I've ever heard. Which coming from me is above the highest accolade I can give since even though I love electronic music, I never thought it could be "beautiful." ...Reminds me of home..

Lyrics aren't what makes a song beautiful. The actual song is.

thank you ODESZA for bringing me peace after all the hard times and heart breaks I have been through while moving. I love them, and I swear on the river styx that I will never forget this song till the day i die. I won't shun this type of music to fit in with other people and listen to "those songs". I swear on the river styx that i will never forget ODESZA

This is the most glorious thing that's ever happened in my life. I'm just sitting here crying, because I'm thinking about all of the precious memories when we lived in Virginia. We moved a year ago.

This song is so calm, like drinking ice cold sweet tea on a porch in a rocking chair on a cool summer evening as the sun sets. Beautiful. Reminds me of so much child hood

I listen to this song when I walk back from school. It helps rethink and calms me from overthinking about a test. When I have strange thoughts about what the world would be without me I listen to this song and relax. The soothing bass and chorus makes me happy for once in my life. I'm so grateful I found this song
