The Nwa boy system has helped and equipped many people with life skills that they wouldn’t otherwise be taught in school. It’s not slavery! They train them more than their parents would. Since they stopped or should I say minimized Nwa boy system, a lot of ev!l have been going on.

Nice Vlog, I enjoyed watching the movie. I think what motivated K.O.K to settle Afam first was the fact that he helped to save his goods when he had issues with customs.
@FloChinyere
@FloChinyere 3 месяца назад
Well, in real life, he would still have settled Paul first even if it's anyhow settlement. Later, Afam's settlement would be much louder than Paul's. You don't leave a senior boy and settle the junior one. And afterwards continue to live with the senior boi in the same house? Allow him to handle your money at the shop? Hia! Even the Oga go dey fear for his own life if he does that.

😂😂😂 When they want to leave home it finally dawns on them. When I tell Kamsi to pay attention and prepare these often so he will know how to do them by heart else when he leaves home hunger go waya him he will tell me "But Mummy all the recipes are on your RU-vid channel" I'll be like: what if RU-vid disappears tomorrow?. "Mummy don't worry, it won't disappear." So like Kamsi said, your son should not worry, they are lucky that their generation has all these recipes on the internet so no need to memorize the recipes. Good luck to him in his new life! Nne the nest is emptying slowly, nwayo nwayo na only you and your sweetheart go remain in that house ooo. 🙌

He claims it is easier to watch and repeat than youtube! He will figure out soon that being a big biy is not only for mouth! Hopefully he will save some money instead of buying take outs. We have been empty for a while with the youngest leaving a couple of years ago. They keep flying back every now and then before the next step! This one graduated last year, taking an exam and now off! It is a great feeling to be empty provided they are all in a good place, otherwise, the nsogbu continues!

I’m curious to know why they use “An” instead of A, I think “An” should be correct. In the same order, I also think it’s because in Igbo language, the M and N produce vowel sound, especially when followed by a consonant. The M and N are pseudo vowel in Igbo language. It is also said that the correct spelling of my name should be double M and not NM. However, this is how It appears in my important documents.
@FloChinyere
@FloChinyere 3 месяца назад
The digraph nw is a consonant so should be preceeded by the article "a". He is a nwa boi ✅ He is an nwa boi ❌ Even when saying the second one, the tongue hooks in one's mouth. 😂 The spelling of your name is just difference in dialects. Imo and Abia people typically spell nma and I think this is the spelling used in Igbo language books, Anambra and Enugu people typically spell mma. Some people spell whatever comes to mind.

Nice evaluation from Aunty Flo and Uncle. There are concepts and techniques in stage and film I think you should understand. First of all, this movie is an adaptation of IAS and adaptation does not mean doing exactly as the original, right, it is a cut and join rather than a verbatim thing. The concept of adaptation allows addition, subtraction, condensation and the rest. Now, plot twist. A technique that can be used in film and on stage, it is allowed to create surprises, even though it could affect the audience initial expectations and all. The character-Paul is the perfect portrayal of an everyday ‘nwa boy’, he is neither bad nor good until after Afam’s settlement which is the existing and major plot twist as there is the son not being Afam’s son that led to blackmail(minor twist) The question now will be; why this kind of a twist? The twist could have been any other thing, why is it the undone from the real sense of the scheme? My Answer: Afam’s likeness for Amaka(their boss’ daughter) was too obvious, and it is enough for his Boss to settle him. One might say but Paul was already having his way with her, he could have settled him. Yes, Paul and Amaka were already seeing each other, but they were hiding at their best. The scene where Afam came to see his boss will confirm that he knows, he even said it. So, Paul was never a bad blood until after Afam’s settlement and left on his own with the money he deceived Amaka to steal from her dad. As a Thespian and a critic for screen and stage what i would say is; The adaptation is nice and good effort in the portrayal, but there were directorial editorial lapses. Editorial lapse like; the part where Paul collected money, the 1m naira from Amaka in the shop is suppose to come after the settlement scene but it came before it and Amaka referring to it in the scene where Afam is leaving his boss’ house as it happened two days after the settlement. There are more but make I stop here.
@FloChinyere
@FloChinyere 3 месяца назад
Angie, I get the shift in adaptations but there are certain codes that an adaptation must follow. For instance they should not have interfered with the order of settling umu boi because it has dire consequences. Unless part of the story is to portray such consequences, they should follow that one to the letter. Ok, so if we did not see any bad behaviour from Paul, why did Oga not settle him? It's an unjustified twist with no continuity. Like I've said to someone else in the comments, Oga cannot settle a junior boi first and continue to live with the unsettled senior boi in the same house, continue to give him access to his money and business. It can never happen. Oga's life is even at stake here. All the twists in the romantic part of the movie are allowed because how someone bahaves when it comes to the matters of the heart is not written on stone. If they had introduced Oga's wife's relationship with umu boi in the story, they could have applied all manner of twists in that part of the story and nobody will bat an eyelid because while some madams treat umu boi well, some are mean to them and cook up all sorts of stories about them. You go nowhere, come back and finish your thoughts. 😃😅

Aunty Flo, you look so good. This our carrot juice is producing a glowing skin. 🤗🤗. I actually think the Igbo Apprenticeship is a lovely exercise but can be done alongside formal education. For example an Apprecnticeship done alongside part-time online classes would be very good.
@FloChinyere
@FloChinyere 3 месяца назад
Umu boy are too busy to combine this with formal education. Wake up early to do chores, leave for the market, stay there till close of market most times 6pm, get home and continue with chores. While serving, they learn how to write because they write receipts and inventory, they learn basic maths and accountancy because book-keeping is part of the business. If they are serving in a non-Igbo state, they learn how to speak English. And really, this is all the formal education they need to run their businesses. If the person wants a certificate, after settlement he can attend lessons, sit for NECO and get a degree. Mmh you just reminded me of my broken juicer. Stopped working since December and I haven't seen a good one to buy. The search continues. My other lifestyle practices been holding forth. 😉
@Enchristed
@Enchristed 3 месяца назад
@@FloChinyere Ok. Hmmm. ok 👌. Atleast they still stand a chance to learn formally. after being paid off(settlement). This point of view is really good 😊.It seems you have a closer look at how it works in reality Please aunty, i noticed from little experience. Ogas were mentioned. Just out of curiosity, have you seen any Madam with boys doing same. I don’t mean restaurant madam but Madams with umu boys. 🧒 just curious Aunty Flo. 😂😂😂😂
@FloChinyere
@FloChinyere 3 месяца назад
Yes o, though not as common, there are many women doing big time businesses: stationery, tobacco, Abada/Ankara/Hollandaise biz, bags of staple food biz, building materials biz etc and these types of businesses require umu boi that would be carrying goods to and from the packing store, moving heavy goods around to show customers, go to markets located in other cities to buy goods etc. When it's time to settle them, Madam would settle her boys. Nne 😂, I'm from Anambra State, the home of business men. Everywhere you look, there's a relative, a family friend that runs the Igbo apprenticeship system, there's a cousin that is a nwa boi or became a business man through the apprenticeship system etc so any Anambra person that puts his/her ear to the ground will know how it works.

@FloChinyere 3 месяца назад
A good number of people say this about the ending, if they are following the banter on social media, maybe they will make a Part 2. The way I understood it based on Paul and Afam's exchange of words when Paul came to collect another blackmail fund is that Paul started doing business with that guy that once brought illicit business to their Oga earlier in the movie. Those people kpai Paul maybe due to bad biz gone wrong.

I guess the 'An' before the Nwa boi is because the nwa is pobably an igbo vowel. I agree with your husband on the fact that most ogas dont know how much they have so their nwa boy easily steal from them. This days, learned sons of oga are computerising their business and taking stock consistently. Alas, i am glad you people pointed out how the settlement strata in the real sense is done, I also never witnessed settling junior before senior boy. I think Afam was more of shielding the fact he is impotent by yielding to the blackmail.

As for the movie, I think the ogas portrayed in the movie were too friendly to their nwaboy. A typical igbo business man will not be having a round table joking session with his boys just like KOK was doing with his boys.
@FloChinyere
@FloChinyere 3 месяца назад
That's a great observation. Ogas believe that overfamiliarity will make umu boi feel at ease stealing their money. They wear a poker face around their umu boi to instill fear. It's only those that are close to being settled that will be holding man to man discussions with Oga. And that apiriko discussion, even though ogas know that apiriko happens, they won't openly support it for their umu boi like KOK did in the movie because it means they will be selling at higher prices hence chasing away customers. Ogas can only openly understand apiriko for other people who come to do oso ahia at their shop not their umu boi.

It's no mean feat for a Yoruba guy to emback on this kind of story. A good story teller is a good story teller and can tell any story with indepth research.
