"Odyssee" - Jacopo Larcher and Barbara Zangerl on Eiger's north face

Last August, La Sportiva ambassadors Barbara Zangerl and Jacopo Larcher made a four-day ascent of Odyssee (8a+/5.13c), a 33 pitch, 1400 meter long route on the legendary Eiger north face, Switzerland.
The route was originally established by Roger Schaeli and Robert Jasper and then completed with Simon Gietl in 2015.

These are two of my favorite climbers. They are always doing something totally amazing together. That pull-away shot at the end was jaw dropping! Thanks for the inspiration!

4:28 - Who pre-hung the draws on the biners, and who drilled all the bolts?

The route was put up by Roger Schäli, Simon Gietl and Robert Jasper. We had to reclimb some pitches for filming or because we fell during our first try...that’s why some draws were already pre hung

Approach is made via train till the tunnel and from there on you just open the door and step on the North Face, just where the classic winter route starts. Descend is made on the West ridge I suppose

At 1:58 there is no quickdraw or any other belaypoint...

The rope you're looking at is the one they use to pull the gear bag. The climbing rope is yellow and not visible on many images.

Nothing special, good climbing but like always with ropes and full safety... Wait for summer 2021, Odyssee will be climbed free solo, that will be special
