Finally got around to installing my CSL trunk. In this video I include a step-by-step on how to build the license plate light wiring harness. Hoping this helps anyone wanting to do this install in the future. Everything needed is listed below and included within the video.

Great video with nice little tips. Funny how all us E46 M3 guys with the CSL trunk use that piece of paper with the wiring diagram mapped out, haha. I have a Karbonius waiting to go on after paint, weather is getting nice and warm so I'm going to be taking it in soon. Thanks for the video Chase!

I did this install 7 plus years ago I think I still have pics of all the parts that came in a kit/package the plate lights arse E9x I believe and a few other things preaty easy

I did not need to drill out my OEM CSL trunk to put on the emblem. I also replaced the reverse light gasket to be on the safe side. I'm a perfectionist and I used a gap gauge to make sure both sides are equally aligned. Yes, I did have to make a trip to Home Depot to get longer license plate screws. I left the rear seats folded down during the install in case the trunk didn't open.

Surprised to hear you were able to fit those stock insert then. No way possible mine would have fit without it. Cool move on gap gauge…

Just the video I needed brother. How difficult was it adjusting the trunk? Did you have to adjust where it screws to the arms? Also how is the weight compared to the stock one? Seems to be a lot of misinformation on weight out in forums.

Glad it might help you out. Very easy adjusting the trunk. Go off of existing mounting points and that alone gets you very close. Adjust from there and you’re good to go. Weight wise it still has some good weight to it if you go OEM. Felt similar to stock to be honest.
