I pretty much never agree with Kenneth Turan but this time I'm totally on board. This is the best film I've seen for a very long time. Whether you are religious or not (I'm not) this is a profound meditation on human values and a wonderfully effective evocation of a dreadful dilemma between a sense of self-preservation and a sense of duty.
Great review. Not just one of the best of the year. It will endure as one of the finest and most subtle commentaries on moral courage and religious commitment.
i have just seen the film and will be seeing it again, as well as recommending it to all my friends. it is about true love between people of different faiths , it is about the meaning of The Incarnation in our lives ,and contrasts beautifully with the stages of the Mass and the response of the monks to the muslim community they serve and love . a truly beautiful movie
this is a good review. in fact, 'of gods and men' is indeed one of the best films ever made about christianity and about a true relationship between christians and muslims, true christians and true muslims.
I fell alseep twice. This movie bored the crap outta me. I do enjoy the dialogue and some scenes are really well done, but I keeps that same monotone feel that you see in these clips THE ENTIRE MOVIE. I don't remember much about it. A real dissapointment for me.
