Hi Katie and Greg. Greetings from Cornwall in the UK.Greg has faith in his equipment up in the tree platform. As a climber you have to have faith in the equipment that you are using. I'm a retired firefighter and we had faith in everthing that we used. Descending on rope into minshafts to rescue animals gives you complete faith in your equipment which is tested on a regular basis. Faith in your work partner us just as imporant. Long may you both keep up your brilliant youtube channel. ❤
Katie you looked petrified going down on that rope from the tree house, but all is well with you both done so well with building your house from scratch, videos keep popping up that haven't been watched but it's cool because, oh that's how you built that and now l don't have to wonder as anymore. Look forward to see it completely finished. 🤗
Kathy you are the first female "Off Grid Homestead" strap on a tree climbing gear and climb up to 60 feet. All I can say is Awesome. I can't even climb my own step ladder due to slight vertigo.
Katie I can totally relate to your vertigo and "the cry". happened to me at a concert in a hockey arena. Very steep pitch in the cheap seats and I cried too.
If I was still a little kid I would have been at the top of that tree. My mom used to freak out I would go so high up. But it was always the best view in town. Now I’m a bit older and bigger I probably stay closer to the ground lol
Is that a pulp mill down on the other side of the valley ? I was once offered a job on the island back in 1966, at Gold River. Gold River was , at that time , a 'town' with almost one employer and only less than 1 km of road . My prospective employer was the Delta Hotels Gold River Inn, the first stop for loggers who had just spent a month working in the woods and could NOT WAIT to hit the bar.I believe you had to drive across the Island from Nanaimo. I chose, instead, to join Hudson Bay Company in their ,Vernon, Okanagon Valley retail store. My reasoning was manyfold, mainly the isolation at Gold River and the constant smell of GLUE !! And, possibly the fact that I had just landed in Canada from England !!
First Katie u are a absolute legend 👍always willing to give anything ago When Greg fist suggested solar panels up a tree I thought no way but I think it’s still worth putting at least a couple up the on a separate charge controller to get u out of a jam iam sure that tree will handle it Also if u r still struggling for internet an antenna booster may help And finally as proof check out Marty T in New Zealand he has done both and very cleaver solar and hydro setups indeed well worth a look I think Keep up the awesome work and love the content u both work and complement each other soo well 👍👌😎
Katie what do you working remote? I work in IT. In October 2017 my dad was diagnosed with cancer. I started working from to get him to his appointments. In March of 2022 I was ready to go back to the office, when it shutdown for the pandemic. During the pandemic I applied to be an official work from home employee. We live on grid in southern Rhode Island. While we had solar put on our roof this past summer, we are still connected to the grid. My plan is to install batteries and a backup generator to allow us to break away from the electrical grid. For internet, we are stuck with a fiber option connection from Verizon FIOS. Cellular coverage is not strong enough to support a 5G wireless router.
Sorry, as I was saying I’m new to your vlogs so I’m going right back to the beginning. What an adventure! so admire you both, K you’re a rockstar, way gutsier than I’ve ever been. What a partnership. And those hens, too cute. What a wonderful family you’ve started. One observation the background music is too ‘busy’. No music necessary or something way less jazzy, forgive this ‘ole lady. Watching with admiration from Ottawa Canada 🇨🇦🥰👵🏼🐶
