Please put something down the inside wall of your well like a small homemade ladder for critters to climb out if one happens to fall in.

That stream is made for hydroelectrics. You can get a fair amount of electricity from that when you need it in the autumn and winter.

Farmers are the same all over the world. Glad you are back to the homestead.

I have unstuck many cars by putting the rubber mat (from the car) under the stuck wheel. Works quite nice, even though it may damage the rubber mat. It is better than being stuck in the middle of nowhere though.

I appreciate your positive attitude, despite fleeting inconveniences. We haven't had such a rainy winter in a long time. After two years of severe drought, at least the animals will have a good pasture.😄

Put up a clothes line in y’all barn to help dry y’all wet clothes it may take a couple of days but at least your van won’t smell like wet clothes

Well at least you made it back and as you stood there abut to walk over to the van and outhouse, did you check the clouds behind you? No and then the Middlesbrough heavens opened and low and behold Portugal welcomed you home.

When breaking down pallets, start from the back; after removing the boards, stand the pallet on end and knock the blocks off with a hammer. When removing long nails with a claw hammer; put a small block of wood under the hammer, it gives a higher fulcrum, for pulling the nails out

Build a carport over the van to give it shelter sun and rain!..collect water off roof in tanks

You can clearly see how happy you both are to be back. Once you have either worked for yourself or owned a bit of property to call your own there is no going back. I have spent a few hours over the years digging out stuck cars/vans and it's surprising how time consuming and tiring it actually is. Best wishes and look forward to further updates.😁

If you do use a Jackery Explorer definitely the struggle will be real as it is expensive and charges really slow.

Draining is essential in a wet environment especially roads.💖🇦🇺 You could use the inside of Poly to string a line for drying on a wet day.💯

Pleased to see that most things held up. Hopefully you can fix the issues with the van and the rain eases off enough to start drying out the water damaged items.

At least now you know where the bad soft spots are in your driveway, so when you're ready to lay some more stoney surfacing you will have an idea where to put it more, really enjoying your videos.

Once you both get warm and dry you will feel better. Have you got a fireplace inside your barn where you can get cozy and warm. Once this rain has passed you both will be able to start getting things back too normal. If you both have to return to England, it would pay you to make a carport for the van and leave it on better ground. Get some steel wool, if it is available over there. Pack it around any pipes, etc that would allow mice/rats to get in. They can’t/won’t chew thru it.

I had some wooden rings that were getting dry and splintery. I wrapped them in electrical tape and it's pretty great. Better grip and the tape will protect the rings

tie 2x4 to the wheel accelerate slowly use branches if needed to gain traction

When one gets stuck in the mud, first thing should do is jack the vehicle up and put a board over the hole and it will drive right out. Good Tip for all

If you have running water like your stream you want a pelton wheel included in your battery charging capabilities. Your water may not run all year, but when it does it is for 24 hours so charging all day long - unlike solar. Good luck with everything!!

Guys could do with advice from the locals to get a few things sorted out. Access is is a biggy, drainage too, at the moment looks like you are winging it. Interested to learn your plans, hope you will share soon. Having two UK registered vehicles, would like to know your thoughts on that. I will be making a similar move in the next couple of years and have thought about bringing a four wheel drive and a caravan from Cornwall. I agree living close to nature is very special and increasingly difficult to achieve here in the UK unless very wealthy.

I'm glad your home did fine while you were gone. You might consider putting a sheet of plastic on your van roof or at least a plastic bin (w rock on top) on the skylight to stop more water from coming in.

Hi,that stream if it has enough flow might be good for a water turbine power unit take a look at kris Harbour natural building about 12 months ago,he has one on his land in wales,and built one for someone else.

Firstly I must wish you both a happy and prosperous new year and hope your wishes all come to fruition this year. It’s good to see you back on the land and with the minimum of damage while you were back in Blighty for a while. The look upon your faces was enough to see how much you love the place. I hope you get some dry weather to allow you to get thing dried out and start doing some needed work to make your life more live able which it turn will give you more energy to get your barn/home sorted.
