I’ve lived off grid for the last 8 years also. In that time i’ve had many nights where the fire went out at 2 am at -44, the propane needed changing during a blizzard, wildlife ate 4 gardens, chopped, cut, split, moved endless cords of wood, woken up to empty batteries, frozen water, mice that have a knack for chewing wires and getting into stored food…. But i love my off grid life and living with a lot less. Definitely not the easiest way to live, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.❤

Leaving Seattle after 60 years. The house we are in, that I added onto in 2001 and under county regs, required 6 inspections. Same neighborhood and I added on to my neighbors house. Now in the city. 30 inspections. rules and regs eat us alive. One inspector allowed a drywell for storm and footing water dispersion. Same inspector, same scenario, same city, not allowed. I wish you two (three) a long a prosperous life together. Your ardent supporter. You have done well.

Agree about all this. I wasn’t even totally off grid. I had electricity most of the time but water issues were a nightmare. I had to move back into the city because the water issues were a very real health problem.

Homesteading is a hard living. You are constantly working. It's very rewarding. The government doesn't want people to be able to control their own lives. So many fees on utility bills.

Nice thumbnail. I'm two minutes into this episode and I like how you summed up the early times of your show. I really enjoyed the time with the Subaru and the repairs,the many trips,the many outdoor and inside cooking,the stuck in the snow. It was all marvelous and inspired how I camp.
