Good day!
In this episode we are finally starting to see a finish line for the roof. I am fixing the vapor barrier after ir goes 2.5x5cm strips to hold the vapor barrier in place and on top 5x5cm boards for the clay tiles. these tipe of clay tiles are fixed only on bottom and top because the roof isint that step.

99% of home roofs in Europe are 100 year roofs. We don’t use those tar/rubber/whatever paper thin shingle things. We use clay tiles, slate, concrete or stone

What is the expected life of that type of roof construction? Probably 50 years minimum if there are no hurricanes or tornadoes?

I would think so, we just got a huge rainstorm with egg sized ice and one side of clay barn roof got damaged so I will have to fix it up but lucky enough the vapor barrier is strong enough so roof is still water proof 😁

Why have you applied a padded band under the wooden strips?

If by any chance there would be water leak or condensation thewater wont get through the vapor barrier where nails are the band helps. And of course those strips will last longer 😁
