Off Grid Log Cabin Walls Finished | 16 | - One Man Traditional Log Cabin series

When I graduated high school I sought a big challenge in life. To alone, with only simple hand tools and raw power, build my own traditional off grid log cabin by hand from the materials of the Swedish forest. I film everything myself and edit these videos so you can follow my journey and hopefully learn as I do. I have no earlier experience in any of this, just a visualization of what I want to achieve and willpower to learn and improve everything necessary. So I enjoy reading good advice in the comments. Enjoy!
In this episode 16 I am "finishing" the walls of the cabin. I will first be having to saw the windows out, then there will be a final log on top of the windows on the long side. This you will se in the next episode, 17.

Has anyone noticed this is unintentionally an epic workout transformation video... compare this guys physique from the first videos to this one. Mad gains.

Probably the most satisfying and safe way of getting in the best shape of your life as well. Not slaving away at the gym building unnaturally proportioned muscles. Through natural movement and long hard work over an extended period, building up every single muscle bit by bit, seeing the fruits of your labour instead of yourself in a mirror with a dumbbell.

@@YurgenGrimwood Just personal preference. But I like it when exercise serves a purpose other then just exercise. It feels less like I'm wasting an hour of my life and more so like I'm putting the strength of my body to good use.

I certainly have been watching that process. I have two grown sons and part of this is just the normal beefing up around age 20. One of my sons is a bodybuilder and it actually takes unbelievable effort over years to build bulk especially on a naturally slim body. Erik works smart, not hard. Sure, he's getting more muscular than if he were a full time video editor.

Oh my gosh your work on the cabin 🤠 is amazing. You are doing a really great job. So you think you will get the roof on before it snows? You must be building up some big muscles doing all the lifting and scribing. I love your videos and I can't tell you how nice it is to see a young man building how own house at your age. Well done. What an achievement 😉. I am a fifty eight year old grandmother and I watch all the cabin builds on you tube. Your doing a fantastic job be proud. I do allot of wood work and work on cars as well so I love what your doing. Great filming and also a very cute dog. Lol Australia ❤️💙😍

I can't imagine doing this in China. I've always been dreaming of building a house of mine by myself. And as a result I majored in architecture in college. It would be wonderful if you have the chance to do what you like after highschool and maybe before you get in a college. You've done a very good job and I think it would be a very wise choice for you to learn architecture. You are good at that.

Those solid "thunks" was another log falls into place perfectly must be very satisfying, Erik. I admit that I almost duck when wood chips fly at the camera when you use that curved blade axe, and if occasionally logs will not cooperate when hauling them up your steps' system I wonder that your audio has no bleeps! I will be interested to see when the door(s) and wndows will be cut into the walls.

Gidday Eric, from New Zealand. I have been watching and very much enjoying your build for a few months now, you are doing a great job. I may be too late with my suggestion, but when you are rolling the logs up with the rope, try a rope at each end, and wrap the rope around the log twice instead of once. It will give you more control and reduce the log rolling back down. Even better would be a pulley attached to the far side of the cabin so that the rope goes from the far side, out around the log to be lifted, up through the pulley and then to you to pull on. This would give you double purchase, and double your strength. You can even get pulleys that will lock so that the log cannot roll backward at all. All the best and looking forward to seeing your progress. Ross
