thanks man! I try to keep things interesting, but really, there's only so much you can do to a riding lawn mower. But somehow I always find ways to improve things or change things. when I first started RU-vid they're only a handful of other people doing offroad lawn mowers, now it seems like the sport has grown in popularity buy a ton! Which makes me really happy to see, I hope it takes over the world! Haha
@Fearlessfront
@Fearlessfront 11 лет назад
yeah the oil got surprisingly nasty! it's a good thing I use heavy duty oil made for diesel engines!
@Fearlessfront
@Fearlessfront 11 лет назад
Thanks man, sounds like you might have some gunk your fuel tank that is plugging up your needle valve seat when you run the fuel tank dry. and royal purple is really good stuff!
@Fearlessfront
@Fearlessfront 11 лет назад
It's the same, my tractor does the same thing. You hook the gas pedal to where the throttle was originally hooked up. all it does is allow you to control the throttle with your foot... it really helps after you have a pulley swap.
@Fearlessfront
@Fearlessfront 11 лет назад
go for it! I share my ideas and videos in hopes that people spread the word, I want people to take my ideas improve on them.
@Fearlessfront
@Fearlessfront 11 лет назад
when you're talking about running it with the pulley swap, nothing beats an oil filled transmission. but the greasers do work perfectly fine, if you ever have it apart, make sure you pack it full of good quality grease before you put it back together.

let me just say fearless ive been a veiwer since u first started your youtube channel and u have taught me so much about tractors and how they work. ive been building my craftsman (which you can see on atltf under craftsman mudder in the making) and alot of the things ive done or going to do are things you tought me. i just wanna say thanks for all youve tought me and posting all these cool videos through out the years.

that one is long gone. and you can lock it by doubling up the spider gears and bolts a certain way. I have never done it that way, but there are other videos on the process.
@Fearlessfront

Thanks
@Fearlessfront
@Fearlessfront 11 лет назад
It's really hard for me to say without seeing it myself, but take your time and dont bolt it back together until you you can get it to fit together nicely.. if it's not closing up right, it's because something's not lined up correctly. Make sure all the bushings are set in the correct positions, thats easy to overlook
@Fearlessfront
@Fearlessfront 11 лет назад
I'm 90 percent certain it wouldn't have locked up, but I'm pretty sure the input shaft would've ripped itself out eventually. Plus when I took the old trans axle part I busted of two or three bolts off in the case, so that was not good.

I haven't really messed with intro's, they really don't seem necessary for what I do. Like you said it just wastes time when all I want to see is what you're doing in the video. I don't mind a nice quick intro like five or six seconds but the long ones drag on and bore me... as for the gear ratio I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about, but when shifting to a higher gear it definitely taxes the motor a little bit but not much. it really depends on your pulley swap ratio, and tire size.

Thanks 4 all the vids ... really good work and really help !!! .... it's a shame that i cannot go in the US to romp my Off Road mower with your's ... i think it will be fun 4 sure ... Keep going with the good work !!! Big shout out from Québec !!!

well the older MST Series axles aren't built as strong as the newer ones. they reinforce certain parts and made certain gears out of stronger steel. you'll also notice they don't have a reverse chain in them its all gear driven.if you really want to step up to a bigger axle, lookup a peerless 820...that's about as strong a trans axle you can get, to go stronger you would need a live axle setup with a chain drive. sounds like you might have an aggressive pulley swap and big tires.
@Fearlessfront
@Fearlessfront 11 лет назад
yes they are

I actually just cut that off and re-did that today... thats funny!
@Fearlessfront
@Fearlessfront 11 лет назад
man, that sounds freaking terrible! These MST axles are really great, they don't have a reverse chain and they are oil filled. I was surprised that they were only $150 brand new its a great deal for this transmission

good trick for removing steel bolts from an aluminum body is to tap the bolt with a hammer before removal. it really works well especially on a carb rebuild with stubburn float bowl bolts.
@Fearlessfront
@Fearlessfront 11 лет назад
It looks that way because of the frame rate of the camera. it's a tornato tip so it spins really fast
@Fearlessfront
@Fearlessfront 11 лет назад
$8 for a bolt? I'd be crying too!
@Fearlessfront
@Fearlessfront 11 лет назад
because when I took it apart I broke a couple of bolts off in the case, I tried to extract them but was very unsuccessful.
@Fearlessfront
@Fearlessfront 11 лет назад
It's the 24" tires.. Once you start getting into tires that big, you should step up the axle size as well.
@tucksbestproduction

the lawnmower racers in germany often put a second bearing above the pulley, to get the twisting force away from the inputshaft bearings....this seems to work pretty well

That's right! Believe me, I thought about this for weeks! but I finally decided it works perfect the way it is, so why change it?
@Fearlessfront
@Fearlessfront 11 лет назад
pretty much the same way, but mtd's usually have a full carrier instead of just a bull gear, so it's a likke harder to get to it.

In one of your newer updates you used the brakes as regular brakes not as parking breaks. You shoulder add a feature that allows you to set a parking break so that when your on a hill your lawn owner doesn't roll down the hill.

I have a Lincoln SP100 that I got for 100 bucks and it was the best money I ever spent. Im using fluxcore in it right now but it can be used as a MIG too (if i had a bottle) Probably the same thing as yours, I think the SP100 was the model before it? Idk i love it. I tripped out when I took the 206 apart from my LT2000 the other day and saw those doubled up C clips. Wasn't sure if that was factory or someone else had put them there, never have I seen anything with two in the same spot. I was in there to weld the differential anyway, and knowing what I know about Ford 7.5 and 8.8 rear ends, I ditched the clips and welded the gears to the axles (and the spider gears to the shaft) in the same manner you did, with the little red Lincoln fuckin cranked. Waiting on some new seals to arrive, then it's time to see if I cant break it!

it's quite easy.. most transaxles will swap right out with eachother... you *might* have to re-configure the shift linkage, but maybe not.

@KeystoneMotorsports 11 лет назад
Should of got the 206! Six speeds, its what all the cool kids have! Your talking about the oil dipstick seal reminds me more that I need to change the oil in the rally. Gotta find out my filter size and get a new one. Maybe possibly Friday.

But crankcase pressure is usually in the negatives. The PCV valve on the side of your engine [valve spring chamber] is the positive crankcase vent valve. It lets positive pressure out [pressure pushing out, from the piston going down, and from blowby], and in turn keeps a steady vacuum in the bottom end while your engine is running. This helps keep seals sealing well and stops oil from leaking past them cause it's always being sucked back in. PCV valves are usually plumbed to the intake tract so any blowby gasses and oil vapor can be re burned by the engine instead of just let out to roam the atmosphere. In theory, while this 12.5hp powerbuilt engine is running, any leaks around that oil sealing o ring will stop and re start when you shut off the engine. in the worst case, the o ring will be sucked into the engine. You will notice however that if you remove your oil filler cap when the engine is running, 'smoke' is expelled from the pipe. this is because the oil fill is going direct to the crankcase so oil and vapor will be spit out and the PCV valve [which is springed] isn't going to do its job.
@Fearlessfront

that ratchet wrench that you used to remove the drain for the oil is an old school ratchet wrench I my self still use a few of them. you can't beat them with a hammer they still work great. you should have the Benny Hill music going with the fast motion videos that would be funny. I still can't figure out how to do that YET.. I also have that same torque wrench I have put complete ford v8's together with that same torque wrench. great minds think alike :-) I hope I can come up and romp with ya?

I'm so glad you don't have intros yet. I can't stand them and they make the video look cheap/ try hard. It just gets annoying. Love your video's! One question, Are the gear ratio's the same between each other? For an example. When shifting to the next gear at the same RPM (6,000 for example) does the RPM's drop the same (lets say down the 4,300) on each gear change? Thanks!
