Off The Record: Should You Let Your GF Have Guy Friends? 

So when I was starting to date my now husband I had a “bestfriend” that was a guy. My husband was super particular about him and didn’t like him at all! I used to get so upset with my husband telling him that he is my brother and he has NEVER tried to go there with me. He kept insisting that my friend liked me. Fast forward a month later when my husband asked me to be his gf and made it official I posted a picture of us on my insta. The next day my “bestfriend” called me spilling his guts and telling me that he has been in love with me for years and didn’t want to ruin it but now that he saw how serious I was getting with my now husband he had to let it out. My husband was always right. 😩😂

I’ve always been the boyfriend that wasn’t threatened or worried that my girl was gonna cheat because like Joe said, if she’s gonna do it, it’s better that I know rather than try to control and then create a sneaky habit. On the other end though, I have also been in situations where a female friend of mine would be touchy or just hanging out close to me when their bf was around and at that point I would act like I had superglue in my arm pits so I would not be touching them even accidentally lol.

There's a difference between when you're in college or younger and when you're a grown ass man and woman. I have friends that are girls and we can just say I love you to each other without it being sexual and they have their own husbands. And we're definitely not trying to fuck each other. Wow. The conversation on this topic was quite surprising to me. I've been a JK fan for many years now and I recall the days of Ask the Feels when the topic of platonic relationships was brought up. The crew back then had such strong opinions on the matter, and simply saw it in black & white: "platonic relationships good" end of story. If you were against it, you were just "ensecure" and "immature" about it, no concessions. And now while their overall opinion on the matter hasn't changed...the fact that the crew is now capable of not seeing the matter so simply as black & white, and were even capable of providing counterpoints and other perspectives is rather refreshing. It shows a level understanding, growth and experience over the years.

I'm older and the older I get I think it's fine if there's trust between two people and trust in the friends. There Def needs to be boundaries, don't disrespect the relationship the girl is in, by any means. No late night calls or rides unless it's an emergency. My daughter is in her early 30's and has ONLY guy friends and she's been that way her whole life. So my answer is yes, it's possible.

So the one of the first parties I had/went to when I moved to FL and was at my roommates friends house for a Halloween party. It was just my ex-roommate his friend and my friend. So we played some drinking games and at one point in the night I gave my friend my phone to invite girls over here. He ended up adding one my friends that’s a girl that I never intended to get with. She was a pen pal from Snapchat. She’s in WI and he’s gone there and she come to visit. He won’t let any guy talk to her, me included. i feel a little bit about joe because although I'm not attracted to my female friends, I do fantasize about them. But they're all clearly separated in my head because sex and relationships are two separate things to me, and I value relationships more than I value sex. I might lust after everyone, but I would never act on it. I cherish my friendships with people and I think having a deep and emotional connection to them is much better than just being deep inside them. I have no problem befriending people regardless of their sex or sexual orientation. If your assumption is correct that would mean that bisexual people can't be friend with anybody...
