Camping on the beach for a few days we finally get some lovely weather, make the most of it and get into a few Herring, Abalone and Salmon.
A lovely part of Southern Australian coast with some of the best beaches in the world we take it for granted we have the privilege to do such things.

Hi Jed & Kel, Paul and I have been following you guys for a while now and would like to give you some tricks on how to initially prepare Abalone and Squid. After you catch your Squid individually place in freezer bags and freeze overnight or as long as you want, then thaw out just enough to pull the gut and ink sack out all in one. In doing this it is easier to skin the outside then push inside out to clean the inside as well it tenderises the Squid as well. With the Abalone after measuring for size hit the foot of the Abalone hard on a smooth boulder or stone a few times to kill it before schucking.This makes the meat extremely tender without bashing the shit out of it or cutting it very fine. Hope this helps as we love you both😊

Hey there Susan, Thanks for all the tips mate, much appreciated! Yeah for Abs we drown in fresh water in the freezer before shucking them which is a good trick I got from a pro Ab diver. But I'll definitely give your trick a go 👍👍 Cheers mate!

Love it. Salmon fishing is so much fun. If you had a burley bag, it can bring them in closer, mate. It's such a nice place. Perfect for photography. And fishing 😂. Well done, both of you. Keep them coming 👌

They are great fun to catch. I found the smaller ones that have not got the dark blue back yet are much better eating. Still the only way I can eat salmon is smoked. Cheers.

Yeah that's it mate, good fun and fight till the end! We carry the lil smoker and every now and then keep a salmon to chuck in it, lovely smoked 👌. Otherwise I let them free.

Ok Nice. I go to Penne father River 75ks North west of Weipa, Magic spot Free camp Got reef fishing , river fishing. Pig hunting and fresh water from Sand spears in your camp, Camp on the beach under Sheoaks Its my favorite spot I been to in Aus mainland so far, been going there for 25 years @@oldmate_adventures

@@oldmate_adventures Love the sight casting hey. Can’t beat that when you can put a lure right on them. 💯 percent you have to look after the Queen ❤️ Yeah. Lovin the new Rig mate. Absolutely love it. Going to take a bit to get used to. Just the set up is so different to the wagon. But we will get there 👌👌

@@oldmate_adventures Was cool as watching you throw the skip in on the run den the beach. Fi was killing herself laughing. They hit hard hey. Our canopy will have to go. It’s way to small and to short but will definitely do for a while. Definitely love the access though. Very different driving a manual in sand again though too. Even stall it yesterday 😂😂😂

Haha I didn't even remember doing it...I get so excited 😆 Yeah nice! You'll love a full canopy! So much room for options 🙌. One little tip is get vents on it. I just put basic scupper vents on mine and is so so good to let hot air and moisture out. Just gotta remember to close them on dirt roads or rain! Ha
